Slowly but surely I am sharing a spring tour of our home, one room at a time.
Today is all about the Nap Room, as I call it, because it is where you can nap best in my home.
It’s the first place I look for my husband when I need help with a project!
This room has all of my favorite design elements:
blue and white porcelain
saltillo tile floors
hot pink (bougainvillea from my yard)
soft, muted walls (Reflection by Sherwin Williams)
lots of flea market finds (with both white and stained finishes)
books (my design and gardening books)
brass (flea market finds for sparkle)
mirrors (to move the light)
and a zebra rug on top of a traditional rug
When we remodeled this house 27 years ago, I called this room the study.
That sounded just a little too grand, and when I realized that the ‘study’ had become a place of
That sounded just a little too grand, and when I realized that the ‘study’ had become a place of
rest, and privacy, and the occasional nap, and because I thought it was funny to
create a play on words for grand houses’ map rooms, this room became the Nap Room.
This of course makes perfect sense to me.
This of course makes perfect sense to me.
And if you are looking for seasonal color inspiration to add to a room,
do what I did: look at your books’ dust jacket covers.
See what I mean?

ReplyDeleteI love that pop of hot pink! It looks so great against the blue and white!
I love this room - the blue and white porcelain, the bougainvillea, the tile floor. It combines to make such an inviting space and yes the perfect place to nap.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Those hot pink touches just LEAP out at you, don't they?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room! I love naps and this is just the most perfect place to take one! I missed some of the tour so I'm going to go catch up!
ReplyDeleteYour nap room is beautiful, Laura. It looks very comfortable, too.
ReplyDeleteNap room. Heh heee. Love the combination of blue and hot pink.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I love that mirror in your nap room, it's gorgeous! What a cozy space, and the pink flowers say "welcome." Everything really looks nice.

ReplyDeleteLaura thid room is os cute, I looke the way you call it.
ReplyDeleteThe color of bougainvillea is divine.
Thanks for sharing
Are those sweet peas, Laura? Certainly close, if not! Oh, I just gasped when I saw them -- one of my favorite colors and it looks so wonderful there! I love the idea of a nap room. In a way, my guest room is like that -- it's almost like a meditation room for me (although I don't really meditate!). If I want a peaceful, quiet spot, that's where I go! But yours -- oh, that's just so beautiful! The light is fabulous (and I'm such a sucker for blue and white!)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you named it the nap room! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd now, I am going to see the rest of the tour.
Laura I love this room and the blue and whites are so lovely. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYour nap room is lovely, peaceful, delightful, a room where I could fall asleep and nap for hours. Laura, you have such an elegant home, my friend.

Your nap room is gorgeous. I love the idea of a dedicated "nap" room. I have a "mama cave" which is really the parlor aka small formal living room. I use my mama cave for resting on the oh so comfortable sofa, watching MY tv shows, and reading. We all need special rooms. ha. Sheila
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous room. The blue and white looks lovely with the pop of pink. I am so glad you shared it at DI&DI. You should add a link to out party, so you can be featured.....
ReplyDeleteNap room, I love that! And, while I didn't know it, we have one of those too. :o)) Yours is just beautiful and I look forward to the rest of the tour. Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute name for your room, Laura. However, I'd be too busy looking around your pretty room to take a nap!
ReplyDeleteIt does speak of rest with the pastel blue walls and I love the frame arrangement. Oh, I can certainly take a nap here yet it's so functional.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous space! Love the rug and pops of pink! Looks like the perfect spot to nap! :) ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteI love your room! The floor is amazing and that mirror is just beautiful. I love the pretty pink of your flowers, they add just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteI love how you layered this room!! Beautiful space. :) Carol @ CAD INTERIORS

This is a delightful room. So many lovely features. I'm loving the toile fabric on your chair and your white wingback chair with the fushia pillow is stunning also. To have bougainvillia to cut would be a dream. Your blue and white porcelain is the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy and pretty room!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your bougainvillea! I'd love to have that blooming right out side my door at this time of year. I can grow it here in the summer, but it doesn't winter over. And I love those brass and glass tables! Looking for something similar.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lynn
wow, this room is so pretty--love that rug and the interesting mix of fabrics and accessories.
ReplyDeleteI would love to nap in there. :)
Laura,
ReplyDeleteEvery room in my house could be called a Nap Room. :) Yours looks like a great place to snuggle in to read, to nap, or just to have some quiet time.
