If we were having coffee, we could talk about blogging.
I really want to know what you think.
I have written about the ins and outs of blogging before in some of my earlier posts:
and
For me, blogging is an introvert’s dream.
There is no conversational interrupting in blogging; everyone has a chance to share.
When I write a blog post, I am sitting in my chair, with my laptop in my lap, waiting for
inspiration to hit.
I may have a plan, but I usually do not have an editorial plan.
So now it is your turn.
I need to know what you think and what you do.
1. How can your blog readers make you feel good about your blogging?
2. How do you prefer responses to your comments? Do you like them via email, or do you prefer return
visits and comments directly on your blog?
3. What obstacles stop you from writing a blog post?
4. How do you feel about your photography and what kind of camera do you use?
5. Do you have a blogging goal?
If your schedule permits, I would love to know your responses.
Just remember what C.S. Lewis said:
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another:
What! You too?
I thought I was the only one."
C. S. Lewis

1. By leaving a comment, even if it's just a word or two to say I can relate.
2. Return visits and comments directly on my blog.
3. Busyness.
4. I think I do pretty well with my photography, but could sure improve. I use a Canon Rebel
5. Blogging goal...to make lots of friends.
Coffee and sharing about blogging would be so nice!
1. Leave a positive comment, however short
2. Leave a comment directly on my blog
3. Being busy (lately, last post before Christmas!) and fear (not good enough)
4. I have a cheap old little camera (grateful for PicMonkey!)
5. Meet other bloggers with similar interests and to be an encouragement to others!
1) Comments on my post
2} Visit again unless I'm not something that's ill fitting with what you like to blog about
3) Busy. I write about life and I have to live it first.
4) I have a Canon Rebel and a smaller Nikon...still the iPhone is so handy but not quality pics.
5) Get more opportunities to write...wherever, whenever. :)
Great questions, Laura.

1. Any positive comment or even a personal email is lovely.
2. I love comments on my posts.
3. Time and lack of inspiration.
4. I just have a small Canon point and press! I think photos are very much part of a post and try to include them whenever possible.
5. No goal, just hopefully to be interesting, and to make contacts with like minded ladies.
1. Comments and emails always make me smile.
2. I love comments and I usually email a response and sometime reply on the blog.
3. My anger over the current political season/pundits/media/gvt---although, I have been known to write about it.
4. I just have a Nikon VR/L.5 and sometimes feel inadequate as other blogger photos are so pretty.
5. Nope---since I have been back in college, just trying to make a blog post is my goal, smiles.
Great questions Laura. Would love to here your answers. Why do you blog? What would you like your blog to be in five years? Are you ready to make that transition? The online community needs all types of blogs. It is completely up to the writer how much time, how personal and how often you post. It really depends on your goals as a blogger. I have decided to commit to blogging full time for one year and see where it takes me and so far I am loving it but the time commitment and second guessing are huge. I know your heart my friend. I hope you find the answers. xo, Patty
Dear Laura,
These are all interesting questions for certain and thank you for generating this conversation.
Well, there appears to me that there is always a method to my madness for certain.
1. Maintain a schedule
2. Post 3-4 times a week.
3. Love Comments
4. Comment on other blogs
5. Respond to comments. ( I know that some slip by) then I think about this during the night.
6. Nikon 40
7. My long term goal was to be published. I really don't think that will happen.
Honestly there are many days I feel frustrated that I have not written well or that I have not visited my faithful friends.
You are such a dear friend and I sense a similiar frustration in your words.
We will get this all figured out.
xo

This is a topic near and dear to my heart. I've made wonderful blog friends who have also become real-life friends, met them in places near and far and have never been disappointed. When I'm away (as I've been this week) and miss posts, I try to catch up to the best of my ability and if I can't, I feel guilty about it!) To your questions...
1. How can your blog readers make you feel good about your blogging? -- Comment, please! Even if it's just a hello. One needn't lie -- "Oh, my! How fabulous!" but something to let the blogger know you're checking in. If you aren't comfortable commenting on the blog publicly, an email is just as nice. And I don't mind a difference of opinion. I've had wonderful off-blog "discussions" that are enriching. As long as it's civil, I'm good!
2. How do you prefer responses to your comments? Do you like them via email, or do you prefer return visits and comments directly on your blog? -- I prefer email (no-reply bloggers make me crazy -- then I feel compelled to reply to a comment on their blog, which doesn't feel right to me. But better than not acknowledging their visit.)
3. What obstacles stop you from writing a blog post? -- Something new to say. Only occasionally is it time; mostly it's content. I want the post to matter enough that people will feel good after seeing or reading it.
4. How do you feel about your photography and what kind of camera do you use? -- I just got a new Canon SX170 HS and I adore it! I love seeing photos in a blog. Sometimes even no text is fine if the photo makes me smile!
5. Do you have a blogging goal? --To build community, share things I love and discover those who will introduce to me something new, whether it is a design idea, a family story, a new craft or technique.
Well, Laura, I can't think of anything I'd rather do right now than sit down with you for a cup of coffee and a natter. Your blogging voice stands out in a sea of ....well....less interesting voices. Perhaps the comments section isn't the place for that discussion.
1. Just a comment. Comments make my day, especially if I have said something that has some deeper meaning for me - to know that another blogger 'gets it' is always good.
2. I love emails. I never expect that others will answer my comments unless I've asked a question or brought up something that seems like it could move towards a longer conversation.
3. Time. Full time work. Caring for aging parents. Life.
4. I am not a good photographer. I know it. I mostly use my phone as I've misplaced the charger for my lovely little Canon. Sometimes I wish I had more ambition to become a good photographer, but then I remember that blogging for me is not about the picture. It's about the word. The picture is a vehicle for promoting my words.
5. To say what I think without interruption - we have that in common. To connect with people around the world - and that goal has been achieved over and over again, with actual (as opposed to virtual!) visits to Pondside from far away friends and my visits to bloggers across the seas.
1. I love comments! I don't want fake 'wow that's so amazing' but just a cheery "hello!" is fine! I moderate my comments so people can also comment and ask me not to publish it if they just want to share something with me. I'm looking for interaction.
2. Since I moderate my comments, they all come to me in email. Unless commenters are 'no-reply' commenters, I try to always email back!
3. Usually I don't post unless I have writer's block, but there was a time when I had extended family who took offense at anything I posted and instead of not reading my blog they commented instead. For many years I just didn't blog about certain things. Then I realized it's not my issue it's theirs and so I moderate comments. They don't bother commenting at all anymore and I am fine with that.
4. I think my photography is getting better. I use my iPhone currently but have been thinking of getting a dslr - something basic at this point. I love photos in blog posts. I always try to have at least one in mine.
5. I want to encourage others through my posts, to extend hospitality and friendship.
1. How can your blog readers make you feel good about your blogging?
I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I truly blog as a way to document my personal life. If readers come along for the journey, and stop by occasionally to cheer me on, it makes me smile.
2. How do you prefer responses to your comments? Do you like them via email, or do you prefer return visits and comments directly on your blog?
Unless I ask a question, I don't expect any response to my comments on a blogger's blog, nor do I see it as being rude if they don't respond. Most bloggers have lives outside of their blogs and I would never expect a response to a generic comment. If I ask a question, I'm fine with a blogger replying to my question using the "reply" option on their blog, or if that's not available, just answering it in a comment. If they choose to answer via email, that's great too.
3. What obstacles stop you from writing a blog post?
Mainly life. I'm retired but life comes first and, at the moment, I have a house full and my hands full. I manage to pound out a blog about once or twice a week, but sometimes not even that.
4. How do you feel about your photography and what kind of camera do you use?
I feel great about my photography. I have a point-and-shoot camera.
5. Do you have a blogging goal?
My blogging goal is to document my life and, hopefully, encourage others along the way.
Fun post, Laura!
1. I love visits and comments...sharing and pinning are nice, too!
2. I don't expect comments, and won't usually see a comment left directly on the blog, in response to my comment. A visit to my blog is nice, as well as comments that go to email.
3. I generally post once, sometimes twice a week if I have something to share. Any more than that and I don't have time to keep up with it. Life happens.
4. I enjoy photography and am constantly learning. It is an art form for me. I also enjoy post-photography with photoshop. I use a Canon Rebel 2Ti.
5. I have always enjoyed treating each post as a little magazine article...I enjoy the journalism side of it. I want to reach my readers and have fun with them!
On number two...I meant I don't expect responses all the time to my comments. I understand people are busy!
1. I love a response of any kind. I am especially touched when people let me know that they have tried one of my DIY or recipes. That always makes my day!
2.Blogging is very personal and everyone had their own method of comment response, but if I get one via email, it's nice. I have built many blogger friendships because someone emailed me an answer to my comment!
3.Real life sometimes gets in the way! I try to post twice a week, but that doesn't always happen!
4.My photos have improved dramatically over the last three years, I enjoy taking pictures. I have a Nikon 3200
5.I just wanted to write when I started. I have been published in few places and now I have the book bug. I am not sure it will ever happen, but it's a fun dream!
Great post! I love reading everyone's answers! :)
I'm still pretty new to this blogging world but I absolutely love it. The technical parts are definitely the hardest for me as I try to navigate all the things I need to incorporate. I know I still have a ways to go. I have recently fallen in love with photography so it's been great learning that skill as well and utilizing that new passion. I love comments and try to comment on others but find it difficult sometimes with juggling all the other responsibilities. I wish I could comment more! Thanks for sharing and creating a safe and fun environment for others to share!
Laura I would love to talk blogging over a cup of coffee--well actually I'm sure we'd have fun talking about all kinds of things. Isn't blogging a fascinating topic? I think I'm finally starting to relax about my schedule--1-2 times a week currently. Ever since we moved into our new house with its poor natural lighting I've struggled getting good photos so I'm finally taking a photography course. Let's see, on a good day my goal with blogging is to write. Share. Maybe offer the reader something to think about. And of course I'm always inspired by others--especially those special bloggers-like yourself-who have a warm, genuine writing voice.

Blogging has opened a whole other world of friendships for me, Laura. Isn't it amazing how we connect with people through their words, homes, pictures and recipes? I like comments emailed, because I don't go back and check to see if people respond to my comment on their post. If people visit, I try to visit their blog, also. Sometimes blogger's comments aren't emailed to me for some reason, and I have found that I must look at my comment section on my post. I only blog once a week now, but started with doing three posts a week, at the beginning. Being kind and courteous is important to me and I enjoy having many blogging friendships from all over. I just met a blogging friend from Michigan that came down to Texas for a wedding. We had lunch and talked for several hours, last Friday.
Oh, and btw, I loved seeing your blue and white post. Don't we love getting inspired by the creativity of other bloggers? I know I do!
Happy Sunday, Laura! xo
My blog readers primarily are family. So, when they comment or add a comment within Google+, I really like it and feel encouraged to write another post or series of posts.
I prefer responses as return visits and comments directly on my blog!
The primary obstacle which stops me from writing a blog post is time. I work full time and spend lots of time with family right now. So, having the time to create posts and develop a routine for sharing is a bit difficult. Maybe when I retire...
I love learning photography and wish I had more time to play with my Canon Rebel camera!
My primary blogging goal is to document our daily life much like one would with a journal. I'd love for my family to look back upon posts as memories and have a warm nostalgic feeling at revisiting what was happening in our lives.
I love getting comments! And questions. And I respond to the comments right there on the blog so that other readers and commenters can get in on it. Then, if the commenter has a blog, I like to visit the blog and leave a comment -- about their blog post.
