My Top Post for 2015: Maybe

Christmas in the Kitchen 2015

I couldn’t do it.

I just couldn’t do it.

I was all set to do a top 5 posts in 2015 , when my stats showed my top post was…

wait for it…

Scourge of the Stink Bug.

What was #2?

Dear Daughters:Wrinkles.

Typical White Spray Paint!

So instead let’s sit on the couch in my kitchen, have a cup of coffee, and instead of comparing dieting notes for 2016,

let’s talk about blogging and our biggest deterrent.

Is there anything that stops you from blogging?

In my case, it’s life of course, but technically it’s the photography.

My intentions are good, I take lots of photos , but blurriness, low light, and other issues I don’t know how to correct stop the process.

I have been tempted to buy a fully automatic point and shoot camera.

I never know if my photos will work.

What about you?

Does anything deter you from blogging?

  1. Don't buy the fully auto point and shoot...I don't think. That flash is your enemy and makes the pictures come out yellow. Photography is it for me too! If the sunshine isn't just right, I'm toast. I am learning though and there are so many great tutorials. There's a Photography board on my Pinterest if you want to look. I took a class right after Thanksgiving. It was only 3 hours but still it was helpful. The best thing was that the instructor told us some "sweet spots" or combinations that will almost always work. I underlined those. :)

  2. Laura,
Truthfully sometimes I have absolutely nothing to say! I mean I'm exhausted just meddling in the lives of my 4 adult children LOL
You're right about the photos though and I plan on taking an online photography class that was recommended to me. Hopefully that will help!

  3. Most people have a fabulous camera, however I have one of those point and shoot ones and I love it. I make sure to never use the flash and I look at what time of day the sun is the best in each room and try to take photos at that time. I usually plan my posts out a week in advance, so that gives me time to get the light right before I shoot. Also picmonkey and a few other sites are free and are fabulous for editing you photos. I think most of your shots turn out wonderful, so don't stress, we aren't photo judges, at least I'm not.

  4. one of the reasons i love your blog is that is is so uniquely different!
different is GOOD! your diversity of subject matter is always delightfully to the point..
i see nothing wrong with your photos..
i feel as tho we've been friends and neighbors for years!

now what deters me from blogging you ask?
    life is a good answer..
i loved sharing my life via my blog while still living in Denver..
could always find good subject matter..
Here in Florida, not so much to write about as before..
I now have a booth, selling my photographs and other mementos..
maybe that can be my new source for topics!
    thanks sweet friend!!
ps.. I do love your "Dear Daughters" messages!!

  5. I don't know how to read stats, Laura...I wish someone could explain that in plain English to me. ;-)

I have a great Canon Rebel but it's difficult. The iPhone camera is great and I reach for it way too much. It's comparable to a point and shoot if not better...just not as sharp. I've read that if your pictures aren't perfect, don't post them I tend to agree. They are like words you can't take back.

Blogging is hard for me right now...I can't seem to find the time lately but I'm driven to write. It's a passion and I love an audience---how little or large it may be.

Thank for a great and thought filled post.

  6. I was planning to stop blogging altogether, mainly due to the fact that my time is taken up with caring for my frail husband. However, I decided just to start a new 'small' blog, where I will write if time allows rather than feeling under pressure to produce a literary work!

  7. I will sit on that sofa and have a chat with you:) I blog first thing in the morning, add whatever I want to say for my daily journal and post pictures (good or bad)! I have a point and shoot camera but my phone is always with me, so that is what I use! Enjoy your day dear friend, BIG HUGS!

  8. What keeps me from blogging is what to post about and there is quiet time to sit and write out the post. Photos are a big one for me too.
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year.

  9. Good morning Laura, enjoyed reading your blog today. What deters me? Well, part time work outside the home...my grown children, grandbabies, church, teaching women the Word and just life in general. I do enjoy blogging but have learned over the years that I was not to make it my LIFE. My life is so full and I love it and I also enjoy blogging. It is good therapy for me. Happy New Year! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. Yes, just living and doing life keeps me pretty busy but I am getting more comfortable about longer time between posts. I also decided I like visiting bloggers and couldn't get to them as often as I like if writing posts takes all my time. Stopping by to visit with you is so nice :)
