We just returned from a week in El Paso where we helped our oldest daughter and her family move.
Allegedly it is a 12 hour drive…
If I am in the car, it takes us about 13 hours- and that is driving 85 mph most of the way.
There is even a time change.
Having grown up on a ranch 45 miles from town, I am a fast driver from way back, but I am here to say no
speed makes this trip shorter.
It is 800 miles no matter what you do.
None of that matters though because our two grandsons are at the end of the drive .
And now we are home, and I am already planning our next trip.
I think we need to fly, don’t you?

I can relate to the drive! So many the past few years from Atlanta to Waco and back!! And, we will be heading to MI on Friday. Not a fan of being in the car that long.
Glad they got settled.
I've always said... if you're taking a day trip, don't plan on seeing any other states. JUST TEXAS.
by comparison, we drive 13 hours to get to Mexico (to Matamoros... the rest is ALL TEXAS BABY)
OR...
we can drive 13 hours to get to Georgia.(and zip through 3 other states besides Texas and Georgia)
THAT'S if we fudge a little either way...on the posted speed limit!
I
DON'T
FLY.
Yes.....Fly!! More time with those grandsons!
Fly, baby, fly! It's the best way to go on a trip that long!
I love a good road trip, but if you have to do it often....fly!
Sad face about the grandsons moving:( I hope they will be happy and enjoy their new home! YES, fly... and fly often:) Sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!
I would fly!
That is one tough drive!!! Yes, honey! You need to FLY if you can!!!
Yep...fly...
Fly for sure!! Can't wait to hear about your trip.

I hate riding on long trips. My inlaws used to have a place in the mountains that it took us at least 10 hours to get there and that was hard driving. Of course I am one that has to stop every so often to stretch my legs...add some bathroom breaks in with stopping for food and it would take us 13 hours to get there! I would be totally whipped by the time we would arrive! But...what we don't do for those we love...right?
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
It's forever to El Paso. At least they let you drive 80 mph in places where there's nothing but highway.
I love road trips...you see so much more of the country that way! But, I guess I'm in the minority. We've definitely seen a good deal of the country via automobile! ;)
Oh, we just found out that our daughter, our SIL and our precious Clancy is moving to Oklahoma City, 8 hours from us and they are currently 3 1/2 hours from us. Ugh!!!! But, you can bet, we'll be making that 8 hr trip just like it's a mere 3 1/2 hrs. away.
Fly for sure!!! Their home is beautiful! So happy you had such a great time, I know it's always great to see your boys!
We lived 480 miles from our 4 grandchildren and the drive got harder and harder.
I drove over and back 17 times, in 2 1/2 years.
Then last March we moved just 1/2 mile from them.
Lots of prayers were said from the time they drove out of our driveway until till we drove out of our driveway!
I say, fly, when you can.
We live close to 90% of the children, but one of those rascals moved nearly 3000 miles away!!
It sickened me, well it still does and sometimes even angers me. So, flying is our only option-we seem them a couple of times a year. I say fly as often as you can, Face Time, Skype etc...and the time in between seeing them will begin to not seem so terribly long.
Hello friend...I think you need to fly for sure! Better yet...get those kids to stay with you all summer!
