*Daybook posts used to be one of my favorite types of posts to write. I am re-visiting that today.
**********
For Today... the week of April 27th.
Outside my window...
it is early in the morning, and it is still dark outside. I am headed to the flea market in a few minutes where I hope to stay away from cookbooks!
I am thinking...
that writing blog posts requires a rhythm, and I am not quite there yet. The space bar on my laptop isn’t working which means every single sentence I type has to be corrected. I have decided it’s a test. I have also decided it is time to leave it at Best Buy, where I hope it acts as badly for them as it does for me- so I don’t sound crazy.
I am thankful...
that I ,for the most part, can create my own schedule. After teaching for 32 years, I value TIME to do what I want to do when I want to do it- which isn’t always the case- but it is enough of the time.
I am wearing...
a knit nightgown from guess where? Ross.
For those of you who used to sew, remember the Make it Tonight Wear it Tomorrow patterns designed for double knit fabric?
Even if I get rid of this favorite nightgown, it will never self destruct. Knit never does.
I am creating...
a pile of things to take to my daughter and grandsons at the end of May. I miss them terribly.
I am wondering...
why NPR radio changed their morning program line-up. It used to be so soothing and interesting to listen to Bob Edwards and others ease us into the day with interesting real life journalistic feature stories. Now there is a program with someone loud and people speaking over each other.
I do not want to hear what the journalist thinks- I want to hear what the guest thinks.
In my garden...
things are blooming! Plus I have more garden spiders this year than ever before. I am constantly walking into cob webs that wrap around my neck- which then causes me to run around screaming. You get the picture.
In my kitchen...
I hope my husband will cook supper tonight.

Sweet friend, I love your Daybook posts! I am laughing about your nightgown, funny we have our favorite ones! Okay Missy, your rhythm is back, keep at it!
ReplyDeleteWish we were going to breakfast!
Nancy
I loved this post! I also have my favorite nightgown ON right now:) Have a blessed day dear Laura!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're going to have a wonderful day....retirement is the best gift ever!!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the nightgown! I am like that by a pair of soft cotton pants with the ELASTIC in the waist and big fat top! Ha! Love hearing about your day! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this! I love to know about someone's day. I've found, with blogging, to treat it like a job. Though, since you've retired, you might not want to do that. I just naturally know I'm going to post every day, and that's a morning thing. I just stick to a schedule because I love writing.

I always enjoy a Daybook post and you made me laugh over the double knit. Brought back memories of all the double knit leisure suits Hubby had and the pants suits I had. Goodness! Enjoyable post!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a DAYBOOK post in such a long time.
ReplyDeleteI remember when everybody was doing them, it seemed!
Your's was sweet to read.

I am at 20 years of teaching and I am already thinking about more time to do what I want! I have a few more years to go.
ReplyDeleteSo real pura vida
ReplyDeleteI too am addicted to cookbooks. I can read them like a novel!
ReplyDeleteI've just spent some time reading past posts and I have enjoyed them. I love your gentle, easy going writing style. We are both former teachers with three lovely daughters. We are both grandmothers. I'm so glad you found me so I could follow you back here and never miss a lovely post!
ReplyDeleteAnd - my oldest grandsons, 6 year old twins, are also "baseball players." So, my heart just melted when I saw the picture of yours, wondering how soon you could be there to join him!
Don't ask me to pick which I love the most...Daybook, Dear Daughters, or Ranch Recipes. I love them all equally for they are written straight from the heart.
ReplyDeleteBTW...we all become Ninja warriors when encountering webbing in the great outdoors!
XO
I love this kind of a post. It's what I call an "over the back fence" chat about the dailies of life. I also appreciated you encourager post earlier in the week. It's such a good thing to be intentional about.
