In the interest of full fall disclosure, it is still in the 80’s and occasional 90’s here in South Texas.
What the weather really is and what it is supposed to be has never been a seasonal deterrent for me.
Fall is fall, and certainly by October, it SHOULD be fall.
Does that make sense?
So I am going on about my business pretending it is.
How do I do that?
As is the case with most simple things, I just begin.
Here is how I celebrate fall:
* By making Caldo de Pollo or simple Vegetable Beef Soup.
* By planning special ‘football’ food, like Queso Blanco con Espinaca, for all of the upcoming college football
Saturdays.
* By moving all of my white pants into the guest room closet. I know, I know. This is old school.
* By beginning my search for caladium bulbs, which are hard to find where I live.
* By thinking about Thanksgiving and what I am going to cook.
After doing just a few of these things, it really is fall in South Texas.
How do you know it is fall?
Hi Laura, being a Texas girl myself, I usually know it is fall when the grass stops growing so fast! A lot of the leaves around here don't change until after the new year. Love how in Texas we get blooming flowers all year round!
ReplyDeleteInteresting facts for Texas. The leaves are starting to drop here. The weather is in the 80's now. I love the cooler evenings, good sleeping weather. The tablescape is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that the cooler temps are one of the things I enjoy most about fall. Hopefully your temps will ease up soon.
ReplyDeleteAround mid-September, sometimes earlier, I see a single yellow leaf on the ground in my backyard. That always tells me fall is right around the corner, but I don't get enthused until that first little cool snap. True, it doesn't always stick around, but it's enough to push me over the autumnal edge, shall we say.
ReplyDeleteI do like that living in England we get the seasons coming and going so well, I missed that when I lived in America! xx
ReplyDeleteThere is just something in the air
