I have had the same lunch every single day since my tomatoes started ripening
about 2 weeks ago.
And because I can wax poetic about just about anything,
including a humble tomato sandwich ,
you know I am in heaven.
There is nothing quite like it.
Here is what I do.
Tomato Sandwich
*Walk out to my tomato beds and pick any tomatoes that have ripened.
*Rinse them gently ,thinking all the while how beautiful and delicious they are.
*Take 2 slices of Breadsmith’s French Peasant bread and spread each slice with a little Hellman’s mayonnaise.
* Add one slice of cheddar cheese.
*Add an entire sliced tomato.
*Sprinkle the slices lightly with sea salt.
*Place it on a Spode Blue Italian salad plate.
*Add a sweet pickle to the plate if you have one.
*Fix a glass of fresh brewed iced tea with lots of ice.
*Take a giant bite and smile.

There is nothing quite like a warm tomato from one's own garden. I can never wait to put it into a sandwich, it just gets eaten!
Yum! One of my favorites during summer.
humble perfection! Lucky you... our Jersey tomatoes are just being set outside now and won't ripe for a long time!
I don't actually eat a lot of sandwiches, but I'll take that tomato and add some fresh basil and fresh mozzarella...drizzle a bit of thick balsamic vinegar and that will be my lunch when my tomatoes show up. Right now they are tiny and green!
Oh my goodness but that looks delicious. It will be a long time before we have tomatoes here, but there are some good ones in the market - not as good as yours, but close, I'm sure.
Me? I love a peanut butter and banana sandwich - sad, but true.
You are making my mouth water:) I am patiently waiting on my tomatoes to ripen... can't wait to enjoy a tomato sandwich! Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend dear Laura, HUGS!
I adore tomato sandwiches (fresh from the garden), although mine consists only of white bread, mayo, and tomatoes (salted, of course).
Oh my... my mouth is watering!!
Karen

Oh stop!
I can't wait until my tomatoes start producing! We got a late start with them...but since the we've had mild temps...MAYBE...they'll be plentiful anyway.
Your sandwich sure looks good to me.
I like the part of making it where you...
"*Walk out to my tomato beds and pick any tomatoes that have ripened. "
...Mmmmm, Pat
A home grown tomato is a wonderful thing. The difference between those you can buy at a market and your own grown in your yard..is HUGE. Especially warm right off the vine. The taste is something you don't forget! I keep saying I am going to plant a garden next year..but I never do.
Amazing Body painting work are done by you..its really unimaginable to get this type of paintings..
Your tomato sandwich sounds so delicious! Love how elegant it looks on that plate! I'm a big tomato lover too!
Miss Bloomers
Your sandwich sounds delectable! I cannot believe your tomatoes are all ready to eat, though, mine are about four inches high... the PLANT! Never mind tomatoes... in about two and a half months they will be ready to eat.
Hugs, Cindy
BEAUTIFUL!!!! Nothing better than fresh home grown tomatoes! And Spode makes anything taste better. Thanks for sharing & ENJOY!
Laura, You have been MIA for a while now. I hope you are just having a busy, wonderful summer and that you and all your family are well. Judy
Stopping by to say Hi!
Tomatoes are the best. I am patiently waiting for mine to ripen. I could live on tomatoes and watermelon all summer long. Drooling here....
Nothing tastes better than fresh ripe tomatoes!
Have a wonderful weekend.
