Smiling Spring of 2013

IMG_1620

Earlier this spring, as my yard and garden beckoned,

and my series of projects began,

I started working hard on my yard.

I will forever refer to it as the

Smiling Spring of 2013.

It was the great contradiction in terms:

smiling in between ouches and rose bush scratches,

smiling while digging and hoeing and planting and watering and dragging hoses and

grabbing my aching back and wondering,

‘if I holler loud enough, will someone come pull me out of the back aching frozen position I am in at

the foot of my tomato beds?’

But…

I was smiling and in heaven.

  1. So lovely!! I am inspired by the colors you used at your entry... Really fresh and welcoming! And may you always work in those tomato beds safely and gracefully. LOL I do a fair amount of creaking myself. Can't wait for the garden tour! xoxo

  2. Just call me Kermit...I'm so green with envy...and not my thumb. I'm so anxious to have a back ache and look forward to it just as soon as the doctor says "go to it!"

  4. Your front door looks beautiful! if you made that gorgeous wreath, you have to show us how you tied the bow. I'm all thumbs with that.

Oh, yeah, it's the getting up part when you are elbow deep in those plants. I keep telling myself I need to do 50 squats a day to get in shape for gardening. What will I be like in 20 years?

  9. My husband took off my ice skate wreath, I guess he got tired of it, but the reindeer are still on the porch. I hope that changes today since our snow has finally melted.
