Christmas in the day to day

It is in the day to day that Christmas surfaces.

It is in unloading sacks and sacks of groceries,

saying a prayer of gratitude while realizing once again that I bought too much.

It is in the dirty dishes and the adage that

‘many hands make light work’

and in the reflecting I do when alone at that same sink.

It is in casual meals on the patio with family and little white lights twinkling

and Delia’s tamales.

And it is in finding, in the back of a cabinet, my mother’s

small green punch bowl and punch cups.

What a treat.

    Looks and sounds like you are well organized. "Iffy" weather is predicted when some of my gang is suppose to arrive, so that last trip to the grocery is on hold right now.

    What a lovely thing to ponder. I enjoy the cleaning and baking - all the preparations. I think of my mum and how I'm doing things in the same way she has always done.

    I loved this post...beautifully written and so very true.
    I love...love...love your Mothers small green punch bowl. I have never seen one like that...I collect green. I even have a green glass chandelier.
