As a sometimes rebellious person,
I have cultivated my fair share of
stubborn opinions.
One such opinion,
for example,
is that
books are found in libraries,
or from bookmobiles,
or in boxes at the flea market,
or from a friend/daughter/brother.
I have books everywhere,
and I can not imagine my life without them.
However, when Target marked their Kindles down 50%,
I gave up.
Have you ever noticed that when you give up,
good things are apt to happen?
I am in love.
It is light,
the font matches my eyesight,
and I ordered James Lee Burke’s
Creole Belle
one night at 10:00 pm.
I am in heaven.
And yes-
I still have a 500 page overdue library book in the den
that I can’t wait to start as well.
LOL. My hubby bought me a Nook Color recently to, and I am in love also. I love that I can make the font whatever size I need to according to how tired my eyes are. I also love that I can ready anything I want and no one try to read over my shoulder (airplane, etc)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Technology. xxoo
I received an e-reader for Christmas and have yet to crack it open or turn it on. It just seems such a bother, when I can sit down anywhere and in 2 seconds be deep into a book.
ReplyDeleteI'm a dinosaur.
I have resisted too:) My daughter has one and loves it! She also reads on her iPad! Who knows, this old dog may get one someday! Have a blessed evening, reading on your new Kindle! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteMy sister offered me hers when she was here last month and I turned it down. Now maybe I better give her a call and tell her I changed my mind. I am such a book person, too.
ReplyDeleteLaura- Good for you- I haven't caved yet....but I have daughters that are pushing me. I don't know- I just love the FEEL of a book as much as anything- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm still resisting....love the smell and feel of books, especially the ones I re-read. I'm sure I'll give in one day....just not yet. But then I resisted computers...opted for IBM Selectric typewriter, until - wow! computers! Linda
ReplyDeleteWe love our Nook and iPad. I still have tons of books though and can't resist the bargain books at Barnes and Noble :)
ReplyDeleteThat's great you love it. I don't have one but, I know I'd love it. I want mine for games, email, etc. How did I miss them at 50% off! Man! Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI am exactly the same way with my books. Once I ordered the kindle, I couldn't put it down.
ReplyDeleteoh me too, me too!
ReplyDeleteBut I still prefer to hold a 'real' book!
Glad you are enjoying your new Kindle! I do love some things about technology(this blog for example) but I like the "old-fashioned ways" better! I don't even own a cell phone right now and I'm in no hurry to get another one. People laugh at me but I guess I'm A DINOSAUR too! From one sweetie to another~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteread your kindle while your hair dye sets..they wipe clean..I don't have one..I just heard that ;-)
ReplyDeleteDid you get color or black and white? I gave my husband the Nook color and he loves it. I can barely pry it out of his hands.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter hooked me, then told me I can order them for my ipad too. What???? So I did. Too bad I have only been reading blogs on it so far.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Well, look at you! I have yet to bite that bullet, but never say never. And I just discovered one of my books is now available as a Nook book, so .... hmmmm
ReplyDeleteI don't when I will have to give up the "real books". But I love the experience with classic real books.
ReplyDeleteI think to have a Kindle when I am travelling. When at home the real books are better!
Have a blessed time, reading on your new Kindle!
