My Heat Index

IMG_9491

I hope you are cooler than I am.

It was 100 degrees today.

I know.

I say the same thing every summer.

I have decided , however,

I am going to enjoy it.

So,

my heat index this summer is going to be tied to

IMG_9461

family members standing in the yard watching grandsons

throw the baseball,

IMG_9463

Blue Bell thawing (just enough)

on my patio table,

IMG_9492

and my vintage ice cream scoop waiting nearby.

And naps, and lots of iced tea, and avocados, and tomatoes from my garden,

and bouquets of zinnias, and books, and the periodic frozen margarita or

cerveza preparada, and new songs on my IPod,

and my new Jimmy Choo perfume,

and turquoise jewelry, and white linen.

What’s on your heat index?

  1. Ice cream sounds good to me!!
Not that bad here today as humidity was down - unusual for this area.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Yes... an attitude adjustment is just what I need, Miss Laura, to "enjoy" the heat and be thankful. You are so right... there is not much we can do about our deep South Texas broiling heat waves, but Blue Bell ice cream, a chilly margarita or a frosty beer darn sure help!
    Right-on, Sista.

  4. I did the same thing (made the same decision) about slowing down and enjoying the summer. I called it my Sand Pail List (copied that from a magazine article.) My list includes everything from watching sunrises and sunsets to bike riding. If it's too hot to do things during the day, I will just do them by night.

I refuse to wish this summer away like I usually do!

  5. I'm rather a softy, swallowed hard for the grand dad watching the grandson picture, and I have not even considered a cerveza preparada for the day.

  8. We haven't hit 100 but it's getting hot and the temperature is rising. I will take a mild winter and deal with a hot summer any day than have to deal with a cold winter.

  9. We're real close to 100 and the humidity pretty much matches it. Ugh! But, Blue Bell can cure anything I'm convinced. :o)

  11. I like how you deal with our Texas heat! Oh Laura, what a wonderful photograph of your precious daddy and your precious grandson, I've a lump in my throat. Hug your daddy extra tight on this Father's day and every chance you get.

I'll always keep in mind your "Heat Index!"

    Love you, dear friend.

Seriously...nothing cools me down faster than a Nutty Buddy.
Love the blue hue and especially love the photos. In the words of a famous man I'd love to meet..."Keep a tight rein" on him girl!

P.S. I have no idea what a Cerveza Preparada is but you better believe I'm going to google it pronto!

  13. Someone just threw the 'Summer On' switch here too Laura. My solution is to keep my active hours to early in the morning or late in the evening and leave the noontime to hardier souls than I!
