Comeback Kids

IMG_9558

I have now lived long enough (not complaining)

to notice decorative things for the home do indeed make a comeback .

So when brass items started reappearing in blogland,

especially in more urban

stylized interiors,

I shouted

‘Woohoo! I liked brass the FIRST time’.

And so I fell in love when I found this shell

at a Market Days.

I was willing to pay $12 because it is the perfect summer accessory.

This back to the future business with accessories makes perfect sense to me.

How about you?

Brass is a fun way to accent your pieces. I never thought of it not being in style.
Of course you know me I just use what I like.
This is a lovely shell. Nice find!

First - I like the shell !!
You would not believe how much brass I had at one time and sold and gave away over the years. Come to think of it, I think there may be some more pieces in storage in a closet.
I got tired of polishing one day and started downsizing my collection along with most of the silver I had. :D
Hope you have enjoyed your weekend.

I like anything that can develop a patina! When we sold our house, I think some of the brass drawer pulls, curtain accessories, etc. helped a lot. It is nice that "this time around" the style doesn't require a high polish!

Love everything about your style. The shell looks great! I am loving everything nautical right now, but I love that you have done in a great subtle way!

Oh, I love the shell and I use to have so much brass and now have changed it all out for a more pewter look. But, what goes around usually comes back around.

That is such a nice shell.

I like all of the metals, regardless of if they are in or not, and like you, I've seen a lot of things go and come back.

Yay for brass and turquoise ovens! I love this shell, it's something I might also paint and let the brass show through. Tex kopke flea market I will see you Friday!

I'm looking at some old brass junk,I've had lying around and bringing it more front and center myself!
I love that shell! I don't have a brass conk-shell...but an actual one...hoping to pull that out and use it too!
You find the neatest way to show your stuff! I love reading your blog... enjoy the summer. Hitting triple digits in East Texas

I decided several years ago that I must be officially "vintage" because I have seen some of these things go through MORE than one cycle!

Re the brass: I am now kicking myself for all the nice brass I sold off so cheaply at hard sales years ago!

I kind of didn't love brass the first time around but it is looking so fresh to me this time. Bring it on!

Hmmmm..... has it really been long enough yet? Let me know when you start seeing gold brass door knobs as the IT item, I haven't changed mine yet.

I love all things shells, so this made me smile in a big way. And I think brass is beautiful, too.
