My Small Cutting Garden

IMG_9015

One of my favorite pleasures right now

is cutting flowers from my garden.

I have even designated two beds as my ‘cutting garden’.

(Yes… a little Downton Abbey fantasy, I know.)

You must do this.

Find some small corner of your yard that gets full sunlight, prepare the soil, and plant some seeds.

If that isn’t a possibility, then plant seeds in containers.

It is so satisfying and rewarding.

Zinnias will be your best friends and the colors are perfect for summer.

The variety above is salmon colored and is called La Senora.

If I can do it, you can.

I know you can.

  24. I enjoyed seeing your cutting garden. I am in the process of creating one. Growing zinnia and cosmos in a warming dome, (presently inside right now, cold here.) I went to our local Farmer's Market yesterday and purchased some allium, shamrock and lavender. I enjoy this creating phase. Your garden looks hearty and more advanced than Michigan.
