Warrenton Tomato Cages

IMG_8771

When a vendor at Warrenton pointed at these

wire baskets and said

“I had a lot of these, but they were bought by Marburger vendors to create light fixtures”, I really wasn’t listening.

I was thinking about my tomato plants that survived a recent storm.

I bought 8.

My father was right.

Things that get ‘whipped around’ do come back stronger.

And when they wouldn’t sit level,

I found a solution.

Does anyone else enjoy finding a solution by using something on hand

as much as I do?

  1. Absolutely, all the time. It is the trademark of a great gardener, artist, etc. Many times the best solution is the simplest....

  2. Oh yes, I use those landscape hooks a LOT! They work well to hold the wreaths and flowers at the Cemetery where my Parents are! My tomatoes are blooming, can't wait to eat a REAL tomato:) Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!

  3. Great idea. I love those landscape hooks, too. They are so handy. We don't have anything outside yet because we still dip to below freezing at night- xo Diana

  4. I love it when a "light comes on" and I see the perfect use of something. Perfect and great for the tomatoes.

  8. Those are great - very clever. I don't know if we'll plant tomatoes this year - we just don't get enough heat.

  10. I've never seen tomato cages like those but they are definitely unique. I'd bet you could come up with all sorts of ideas to use them for. I love to use things for "not" their intended use!
