Dear Daughters ,
Once a sense of urgency takes root in my thinking,
you know it is hard to ignore.
After a wonderful trip with family and friends
to Round Top Easter weekend,
doing one of my all-time favorite things (exploring with you)
I felt dissatisfied and
full of motherly wants.
Yes, I was with you all,
and yes the sight of the three of you walking in front of me
at Warrenton made me smile,
both inside and out-
yet
I came home wanting more.
Here are my wants:
Even though we all live apart,
*I want Easter to be about Easter.
*I want us to ALL go to church together.
*I want us to ALL be together.
*I want to set a beautiful table.
*I want to plan an Easter Sunday menu for weeks ahead of time.
*I want to see your new Easter dress.
And so in the dramatic fashion I am prone to use-
we must all beware of the alternate plan,
the easier way,
the let’s do this instead.
Just a thought-
Love, Mom
As a Mom (and now grandmom) I sooo get where you are coming from. There are just some traditions that I like to see continued. Blessings, Laura- xo Diana

Awww...I totally understand. Family is so special and Easter is too. Traditions are what holds the family together. I was in Warrenton on Good Friday, but it wouldn't have seemed like Easter without going to church, seeing the Easter Lilies, the children in their Easter Best! I hope you and your daughters can have YOUR kind of Easter next year. Afterall, Warrenton/Round Top IS 2 weekends! :)
ReplyDeleteI bet they understand what you are saying...you've raised them right...
ReplyDeleteI certainly can relate to this post honey. I too have the same wants but I keep my mouth shut when it comes to my wants with my kids because of fear of starting troubles.

Right. My kiddo had to stay at college which is far, far way and write a ten page paper.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel! Perhaps I should start a series like yours... "Dear Sons".
ReplyDelete(Gosh.. what would I tell them??)

I know exactly where you are coming from. We tend to revolve around our children's wants but they often have no clue as to ours. I hope they read this and understand.

Amen!!! As a Mom you certainly spoke from the heart what is desired of us all.
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart when I think of my little Grandson who is almost three has never been to Church. {{{SIGH}}}...I hang on to that 'train up a child' scripture tightly.
God bless you sweetie and have a beautiful day!!! :o)
Me too! I enjoy the traditional Easter! Just plan it that way next year! Cook, they will come:) BIG HUGS!
