Weird Science Gardening

IMG_8488

Gardening is such a relatively new

obsession (4 years)

for me,

I still holler

”John!  Come look!”

when I spot something freaky.

I imagine most experienced gardeners know exactly

what the deal is.

I do NOT.

Remember this discovery?

So what in the world happened to my

Knockout Rose??

Anyone??

Hmmm, no idea, but it's pretty! I'm sure someone will know. Can't wait to find out!

It looks like a lime! I have been gardening for 25 years and still don't know a weed from a flower. It's just all experimental, I guess!

If it happens once it is just an anomaly. If all subsequent blooms have this discoloration it is a sport. At that point it would be worth writing to the breeder of the KO rose and asking him, if your rose bush is of consequential size.

Very interesting...looks like a hybrid. It will be interesting to see if you get any more blooms the same.

Sorry! I am of no help. I love beautiful flowers, but know very little about gardening.

How strange and beautiful!

So interesting! Think I would go with Nell Jean's comment. It would be interesting to know what the company/breeder has to say about it.
Have a great weekend!

This is one of the things that makes gardening fun to me. You just never know what mother nature will do.

I've got a light pink (different from the usual dark pink color) bouganvillea that has one - just one - flower that is 1/2 light pink and 1/2 regular darker pink. It's done that for 3 yrs now and I've always assumed that the "grower" altered the original plant to get the lighter pink and it was just an anomaly. It looks like yours in that it's a clear-cut 1/2 and 1/2 phenomenon. Not sure, but seems to make sense???

Your rose is beautiful...that's not a hop is it...filled with seeds???

I have 38 rose bushes in my acre yard here on the Ponderosa along with many flower gardens but I don't have a Knock~out on the place.

I'm interested to see what ya have there.

God bless and have yourself a grand weekend sweetie!!!

I'm the wrong person to give any gardening advice. Sometimes I plant something, it doesn't grow, two years later it comes up and I don't even remember what I planted.
