During our Christmas visit to our daughter’s,
I had a chance to take photos of what she has done with her living room.
It is this wonderful tone on tone color combination of
ivory, soft white, and soft taupe.
Tone on tone decorating is so smart.
Once the palette is set, it all works.
I found this pair of end tables in Dallas this past summer-
across town from each other.
One was at a consignment shop and when I spotted it,
I had to go back in my short term
memory bank to figure out why it looked familiar.
Click.
Its pair was at a thrift shop across town ,and it was 4:30 pm.
I made it.
This tureen was a find at another consignment shop, and
I found the red chinoiserie table at a garage sale in Dallas.
It lived with Daughter #3 for several years first.
My oldest daughter found the bookends on a trip to Laurie Anna’s in Canton.
They look wonderful on a mirrored chest.
We all have so much fun finding things for our homes that we love.
I know you do too.
I think I need to do some copying.

Beautiful! I know that your Daughter is proud that you love her decor! Have a blessed day dear Laura, HUGS!
I must admit that I copy my daughter, too! I do love the tone on tone decorating - so soothing - so versatile if you want to add a splash of different colors for different seasons. Linda
I love tone on tone and your daughters home is beautiful.
I used it all only my home and it sure makes chooseing thing much easier- plus easier to find new things to go in here.
Hmmm...now I know why it's called "palette". It's all about taste and your daughter's is perfect. Wonder where she gets it?
Now about that wing chair. Think you can find it's twin for me seeing as how I have one just like it crying for a mate? Seriously!!!

I love a neutral tone-on-tone look. I think it is classy and comfortable. Happy first week of the New Year- xo Diana ps...great little tables...how funny that they were at separate shops.
Amazing! Looks like pages from Better Homes and Gardens. Your daughter certainly has her mother's eye for decorating.
I just adore the look darlin'! I'm decorated in kinda "French Country" here on the Ponderosa, My master bath is tone on tone whites, and beiges. I'm quite smitten with those throw pillows...if she ever tires of 'em....'Just sayin'......Heehehehee!!!
I just wanted to pop over and thank you for visitin' with your sweet comment and hoppin' on my blog. I sure hope ya'll enjoy the ride!
God bless and in the word of that silly old Granny Clampett, "Ya'll come back now....ya hear!!!"
Happy New Year Sweetie!!! :o)
Laura, your three daughters are all amazing! Your genes run strong through them for sure. I know they are sweet blessings in your life.

Just wanted to swing through and wish you a Happy New Year!
Happy 2012! You daughter's home is so calm and beautiful. I am more and more drawn to these neutrals with some sparkle. Our bedroom needs a new color palette and I was thinking coastal with blues and aquas but every time I looked at our family room tree the Burl Ives song "Silver and Gold" came to mind. So I think that clinched it. Thanks for sharing her beautiful home. It was just the inspiration I needed.
Laura your daughters home is beautiful! I love her living room chairs!!
I love this look! However, with 3 grown men and a 6 year old boy in my house - not gonna happen. You are such a good mama to wrangle those two end tables the way you did. Well done!
Happy New Year Laura...your daughter has a beautiful home...love the muted tones.
What a pretty and elegant home your daughter has, Laura! I love that simple color palette, it looks so restful.
Hope your year has started out great! :-)
XO,
Jane
Tone on tone is a beautiful way to decorate! I have a couple of rooms that are tone on tone, but this makes me want to redecorated everything! Her home is beautiful and elegant! BTW: I have the very same mirrored chest and love it!
Hello ... it's nice to meet and follow you.
stop by sometime.
ciao bella

In my dreams, I have this house... unfortunately, I have two German Shepherds and two cats in my old farmhouse, so I'll just keep reading your blog for inspiration. :)
It's all really beautiful. And tone on tone decor is just so soothing.
Happy New Year!
Kat :)
Your daughter's home is lovely! I think it is so great how you all trade things back and forth and help each other decorate. Of course all your girls get their exquisite taste from you.:)
Beautiful and elegant space! She has her mother's decorating genes! ;)
I like that decor style too.
Her style is pretty; the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, huh?
Pat
your daughter has great taste just like her Mom...
I love her couch and the pillow with the brooch!
I am selling my home in the [near] future and have been painting/redecorating with neutrals. I am currently working on my living room.
I am curious about how your daughter decorated her walls (?) - I have several mirrors I will use, but am not sure what else to do. Do you (or anyone here) have any ideas?
Thanks in advance. I don't comment often, but read a lot :-)
I always enjoy looking at all white or neutral decor but I don't think I could live with it. I love COLOR! I have been torn lately...I still have a desire for the "hunt" to find things for our house, but I'm also to the point where I'm thinking maybe enough is enough! We recently cleaned out my MIL's apartment since she went into the nursing home and I realized that all the "stuff" we have really doesn't matter in the end. Of course, I'm sure I'll continue to dabble in flea markets, etc. just in case there's a treasure there waiting for me!
Your daughter has a beautiful home.
Wow so pretty...What a great find on those end tables.
Love the giant drifting snowflake! Everything you do is beautiful and calm and bright! You just can't do white without feeling calm and bright! Love it. Thanks for the ideas.
Looks so inviting! Thank you for sharing. Hope you have a grand evening. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
