It just dawned on me that I have found
some of my greatest treasures
while my husband sat in the truck reading the paper.
This set of 8 linen napkins,
pinned together with a safety pin,
is just such an example.
Location?
Navasota, Texas.
He sat patiently in the truck while
my daughter and I went in store after store,
all along streets
IN
Navasota,
Brenham,
Giddings,
Cuero,
and then he was
DONE.
And when he’s done-
he’s
DONE.
Glad I found these early in the trip.
I know all of the towns you are writing about. They're wonderful! Wish I could hit those places at the right time.

ReplyDeleteThere is only so much newspaper they can read. I prefer the waiting in the truck to my husband coming in with me. I usually can purchase more alone. Your napkins are lovely, great find.

I know that "I'm done" face very well. I think all makes and models of men come equipped with one!

I always thought that husbands were wired to be patient and wait for their wives' shopping stops but my husband made me re-think that. He has no patience and he's given me the background on why he will not wait for me (bad childhood memory). So it's been lonely on the shopping trail. Consider yourself lucky.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by "DONE"...my husband is pretty good about waiting and people watching and sometimes even joins me in the hunt but I always feel rushed and don't get to leisurely browse like I do by myself.

Laura, I LOVE Navasota ! Didn't realize there were shops there. We used to stay there when we went to the renaissance festival. Hubby would never go around thrifting with me. It's hard enough to get him to take me to the flea market here. I like to look at every tiny thing, digging for treasures and taking my time so I don't miss anything. I'll look up and he'll be at the end of the row, hands on hips with that look in his eye: Okay. Enough already! Beautiful napkins ! I would have gotten them, too !
