Dear Daughters,
In a room-
any room,
find the oldest woman there.
Take it all in,
soak it all up,
and listen to her every word.
The oldest woman in the room
has certainly lived longer than the youngest,
but it is not just about that.
If we limit ourselves to just listening to our chronological peers,
we limit ourselves to an exchange of like-minded,
same-aged ideas.
There are so many wonderful,
age worn ideas.
Find the oldest woman in the room
and take a seat.
Be her listener; be a learner; be her .
I love you,
Mom.

This post brought tears to my eyes! I found out one of my best gardening tips by talking to the oldest woman in the room to once. Great advice. I only wish my mom were still here to talk to.
Just beautiful!

Have I told this to my daughter? I can't wait to get home to make sure that I have!
Ummm...that would be me, only not necessarily wiser.
Sage advice my darlin'!

So VERY true..
reminds me of my childhood..
when i was told:
"little girls should be seen..
and not heard.."
if i were to remain in the company of grownups!
age of the listener is irrelevant..
just listen!
thanks..

Thank you.
True words to be passed on! Thank you for this. Connie
You are so wise. Hope they take your advice. I realized that some years ago that every woman needs a friend 10-15 years older to be their mentor.
What beautiful thoughts to share with your daughters. I guess I'm now finding myself as the "older" one many times. I hope I have wisdom to share...and hopefully my granddaughter will listen to me:)
