‘Having Projects’ Living

P1000220

I don’t know what causes

my ‘I better get this done’ mode to strike,

but I sure do enjoy it when it happens.

I have shared before that my parents

modeled

‘having projects’ living.

I am so glad they did.

It is SO satisfying.

My home has been a big hot mess

for two weeks while I rearranged, painted, and happily stewed,

but today

my intentions

and

my home/my friend

finally surfaced.

(flea market find- just visiting until it goes to Daughter #1)

My staging process , created by accident, has worked like a charm.

As I moved things out of a room, I put them on a table in the dining room.

Remember this?

IMG_7113

That lessened the distractions and bird walking I tend to do-

as in

‘what is this?’

‘who bought this?’

‘where can I put this?’

I have , with Benny’s help and lots of

Diet Coke and iced tea worked so hard

I can’t walk.

I have:

*discovered a new favorite lamp, in pale turquoise- at the flea market

*had the kitchen painted SW Kilim beige

*had a nervous breakdown about the paint color/sought your opinions

*left it for another day… a much later day

*had the master bedroom painted SW Morning Fog

*had master bath painted the same color

*repainted the master bath a darker shade

*had daughters screen my calls because a million house questions seems to get on their nerves

*decided something paranormal is happening- no matter what paint color I pick, my bathroom looks blue

*had dimmers installed in our two dining areas- everyone looks better in dimmed light- who needs to see?

*realized I may need to wear a miner’s lamp

*had a small chandelier hung in the hall bath- I can’t get enough sparkle

*had a toe to toe discussion with Benny about the taping and floating that was needed- I let Benny (Eldon) win…

*broke my toe ramming it into something on the floor that was NOT on my staging table

and

*had another strange photographic experience.

Does this ever happen to you?

My house – like me- is NOT always photogenic.

Do you ever look at pictures of yourself and feel confused because you THOUGHT you looked one way but the photo says something altogether different?

My house is the same way.

I think things look great, I take a picture, and everything looks

uhmm..

slightly off/goofy.

But all is not lost-

I listened to Michael McDonald and danced (on one  broken toed foot)

anyway.

Pictures tomorrow- right or wrong.

Maybe it’s the photographer?

Such a busy lady! I'm ready to see these pictures, Miss Laura! I'm ready to see things in person too. I know everything is going to look fabulous! Take care of that toe, that sounds painful. I know, dancing makes it all better!

Hugs, sweet friend,
Nancy

It's coming together, Laura!! I knew it would. I go for that table technique. It allows to see our "stuff" in a different light.. or better yet, another roomm. Makes it new. :-)

I admire your sense of humor. I got a chuckle from the daughters screening the phone calls. Looking forward to seeing the results of all your hard work.

You have more energy than a 5 year old, Laura!
I can see why that is your new favorite lamp, it is gorgeous...

Hang in there, Laura! I personally find painting to be a traumatic experience. We are getting ready to do the living room and kitchen and the work involved makes me tired thinking about it!

Jane

I'm laughing with you at this moment, not at you :) Oh, the realities of projects! I love dimmers also and gasp, even like to eat by candlelight upon occasion. Steve does not like candles because he wants to "see his food." Good grief, who needs to see every detail. The plate is white and the fork will clink when it hits the plate. Isn't that good enough?

Sorry about your toe. I ruined one of my baby toes, that had till that stub been just the cutest toe when polished and now, well, polish helps but it is still challenged. Hope your toe heals well and remains cute.

You sure are repainting a lot. Maybe you are getting stressed, now color blind and your bathroom isn't really blue at all. I'm proud of you for just moving forward. I'm still on paint hold, agonizing over the just right "white" I'm wanting for the Craft Room walls. How OCD is that??? Good grief, it's white. I need a reality check. So instead of painting an entire wall today like we were going to, I'm on blogs and Steve is watching our Ducks play football.

So now that you have an entire essay instead of just a comment, you could have at least offered me some sweet tea and maybe a bite or two of something to eat. Blogging takes a lot of energy. Can't wait to see your end results. I know they will be beautiful.

My you have been a busy bee! I've been struck by the bug too! I've just scoured my refrigerator - again for the 3rd time in 4 weeks after 2 major spills . . . the last one was blueberry . . . my fridge like a blueberry murder had been committed!

I think it's the "holiday bug" - looking forward to seeing all your finished projects!

You have been VERY busy! I laughed when I read the part about your daughter screening your calls! I can see this happening with my daughter, I've already started calling her, and she's away in college. She gets a little annoyed! LOL!

Can't wait to see pictures of all you have done! :)

I am completely smitten with that bench with the writing on the fabric cushion. How awesome!

Even though I think you are funny and we could have fun...I am glad we aren't neighbors because we are too much alike. I am always taking everything and loading up my DR table but then I might leave it for a week because I can not find the inspiration that started the whole thing. Then I am frozen. Like stone. And it can stay for a while......
