Keep It Small

IMG_5829

My exploring this past week

unearthed another ironstone soup tureen to add to my collection.

The price was right ($15),

it was from Pottery Barn,

and it was

BIG.

I also fell in love with the detail.

I have a fresh, new philosophy on managing a collection.

Keep it small.
Keep it selective.

I love my new collection of soup tureens because

I can

SEE

each one and enjoy its special lines and shape.

Each one of these was a thrifty treasure.

I realize most people

might think a collection of

7 ironstone soup tureens

is

NOT

a small collection,

but

by my previous standards

it is…

(true confession)

Somehow,

having

only

seven makes me love them more.

Just remember.

Keep it small.

Keep it selective.

They certainly make a lovely statement simply grouped together like that, with nothing else to draw the eye away. Sometimes collections can get too crowded ... something I am all too aware of because I have a real problem with being selective sometimes. :/ Have a great week! Tammy

I love your display and all the lovely detail on each tureen. I rarely see them when I'm out thrifting but I will pick it up if I do. I have a few but most of them are missing the ladle. great find!

A collection of creamware/ironstone is on my wish list. Your tureens are wonderful. I can see a luncheon for a large group...or a small wedding reception using them as centerpieces. Gorgeous in my mind's eye. Thank you for sharing them. Cherry Kay

Good advice, Laura. I like the look of all white ironstone on your shelves. It makes one focus on the form and details. Absolutely lovely! ~ sarah

That tureen is a fabulous find. You are so right about keeping it small. I need to write that on my left hand on Saturday's when I go to estate sale and garage sales!

No...two (which is what I have) would be a small collection...but I'm working on it!
Funny thing...I feel the same way about friends.
