Boys Are Different

IMG_6182

I have returned home , after delivering a dresser,

visiting Canton and various locales therein,

with my

grandsons in tow.

Correction.

I am in tow.

Boys are different.

All decorating projects are on hold for a week.

It is just a list after all.

I would much rather sit on the couch watching National Geographic’s Strike Force,

a season’s collection of Swamp People on Netflix,

and all things Animal Planet.

As my youngest grandson just said,

after drinking all of my ice water,

Tanks.

  1. No doubt - boys are different - and isn't it fun! I miss our little two so much, but skype helps. I haven't seen them since April, but will get there in September. Can't wait!
It's a good thing you like all those boy-things!:) You must be a popular Nana!

  6. Sweet post! And I agree, they are different! In my family, females are the minority! I find that boys tell stories with more sound effects than words!

  8. Things get put on hold when the grands come here also, with the exception of fixing plenty of food. :D

  9. When I think back to my kids being young. . . I always picture my daughter at 2, taking care of her babies, playing house, restaurant and so sweet. I think of my son at age 4 . . building things just so he can tear them down, thinking he is the fastest runner and the highest jumper, the best karate guy and army man. I dont know if it's because he was second born or a boy, but everything he did just had me laughing.

Those are their default ages in my mind.

  20. You are so right, boys are very different. After my two girls, watching my grandson play is a whole other adventure. The sounds are much louder and dirt (I should say mud) can occupy hours of his time. Oh, and he loves to pick my flowers and bring them to me. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

  21. So true! I had three of them. Your lantana reminded me of the time my sister-in-law, who had 5 girls, kept them for the day. She said they learned places to get in the bushes her daughters had never thought of before. Seeing the Legos, it made me say ouch for all the little pieces I stepped on over the years. You have darling grandsons. You also have a beautiful blog. I can't wait to explore more. Thank you for the comment so I could come over here and visit!

  22. Amen! After two daughters, God blessed us with a son, who is now 11. I've got those nerf darts everywhere, the same lego set in some sort of fashion and a high energy little (growing bigger by the minute) guy who can't understand why I won't let him play Call of Duty Black Ops. (It's either rated teen or mature - OF COURSE my answer is going to be NO!) But isn't that a mother's duty anyway? To suck the joy out of life by continuously saying no?

All kidding aside, he and my daughters are as different as night and day and I wouldn't have it any other way. Your grandsons are adorable. Enjoy your time together. :)

  25. You're right, boys are different! I was raised with all brothers, have only sons, and nephews. I'm hoping for granddaughters. Have fun spending a week with the boys!

  26. I love my daughter, but I always thought it would be wonderful to also have a son. I hear they are truly different. :)

  27. How precious! I had three girls so I don't have much experience with little boys. Having a grandson now, I'm finding them much sweeter than I expected too - I guess too many years of "snips and snails and puppy dog tails". I'm so looking forward to watching him grow up

PS - my Lantana looks a lot like yours and they got there all on their own.

  28. Oh you lucky lady!

Sticky little boys trump decorating any day. Decorating can wait; little boys can't.

    They are adorable!

And BTW --my Mom painted a bathroom in Raspberry -- yes, clear color! -- back in the early 70s; it had pale pink and gray tile. She loved it, but she was a color junkie. Yeah, I got that from her!

Can't wait to see where the Raspberry goes!
