Today I opened door number 3
and joined the world of painting bloggers,
whose work I completely admire.
Now granted,
this admiration usually occurs from afar, while sitting in my chair
with the AC blasting.
These painting bloggers are amazing in their talent and knowledge.
I am the Anti Paint Tutorial Blogger.
I was part of a DIY team today (with two of my daughters),
who have become very, very
BOSSY.
Five minutes in,
I was quickly demoted to third string painter,
and I was even accused of
“…trying to get out of things,
or skipping important steps in the painting process…”
Well, I never!
apply the primer to a campaign dresser that will
belong to Daughter #3,
once it is painted in a turquoise color called Beach Towel
and its brass fittings are all shiny and gold.
Easily distracted, I wondered if Zinsser makes
under eye concealer.
I am a slinger by trade, and when I complained about the primer,
I was then told to work on the campaign chest hardware.
This was a very hard job.
The previous owner of said campaign dresser
had spray painted the hardware with black paint.
(Truth be told,
I don’t blame them…
I feel their pain.)
This job involved dangerous,
toxic chemicals,
capable of removing layers of paint and skin.
Daughter #3 had started this job,
all while I shouted out non-stop, possibly irritating warnings of
“Danger! Be Careful! Wear those gloves!”
I was demoted from this job
when they caught me trying to dip said hardware in my silver cleaning
liquid in the kitchen
Stay tuned for the big reveal.
There really is a plan.
I’ll let you know
when they
let me know…
I wonder what my job will be tomorrow?
Love it!! Especially since I spent a good part of the weekend using that exact same primer and some turquoise paint. Sadly, I can't get demoted since I'm a one-woman show :)
ReplyDeleteHAR HAR HAR HAR HAR....
ReplyDeleteYOU CRACK ME UP!
Wanta know WHAT I tell my kids?
Just what they use to tell each other when they were 10 and 7...
"YOU ARE NOT THE BOSS-A ME!!!!!"
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
xo~Rebecca PS: I can't wait for the reveal!
I'm cracking up. I always tell my family that there are 3 Chiefs - all of them - and one Indian - me of course. Everyone wants to be the boss!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue!
Ha, this sounds so familiar... I'd like to know how they got to be the boss of me! I try not to let them gang up - the secret is to keep them separated during tasks. I have 5 to contend with... it's a losing battle

I love the name Beach Towel for paint! I'm not good at these painting projects. I also like the A/C, a little music and a cold drink. I'd much rather direct the process from inside the house! Can't wait to see the finished project.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! But then again, I think this about everything you've written!
ReplyDeleteOh you are my new hero and my go-to gal for paint projects!! I too, admire all the bloggy painters from afar...chicken that I am..;j
ReplyDeleteYou put a smile on my face with this post! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteOK, Laura, I thought that black stuff was "bugs" at first. That being, I would have just run away...glad it's just paint. This is why I always paint my hardware. Can't way to see this when it's finished! xoxo Debra
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, Would you say then, that your chances of becoming a serial painter are limited! LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt can be daunting and when you have supervisors, it's even more trying.
Looking good though. Can't wait to see the finish.
hugs
Sissie
Oh I can't wait to see the finished project! Great tease:) Have a blessed day painting! HUGS!
ReplyDeletethe last time I did any painting with my daughters... I had to fire all 3 of them... ;) Hey girl... at least you're the one that got fired! I like that much better!
ReplyDeleteBet it's going to turn out great.. just like all your projects. Looking forward to seeing the end game!
blessings. Dixie...
Oh fun! a FAMily project where everyone is included.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to help!
Pat
Is that how you get demoted? I'm gonna try it. Too funny. I love the hardware. Can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha too funny. That stripper works great, gotta get me some of that......quick!!

Such a fun, but obviously hard, project!!! You know Gigi is a good painter... And I would totally help if I was in town but first we'd need a big pitcher of margaritas!
ReplyDeleteLike you I admire folks who can turn an ugly piece of old furniture into a beautiful painted piece. My son refinishes furniture but likes the look of the wood...unpainted. I am so untalented I can't even spray paint something that looks that good. Sorry I haven't visited your blog in awhile...just no time to blog at all. I've miss you though! I hope to have a new post up (finally) in the next day or two. Please visit:)
