Grandma’s Yellow

Cuero 014

On my recent trip home from Warrenton and Round Top,

I had a

wonderful time visiting some unexpected places

and finding some unexpected treasures.

I found one here,

outside Cuero.

During my visit to this nursery,

my mouth dropped when I saw the name of the most

beautiful yellow rose-

Grandma’s Yellow.

Sigh.

My aunts Mary and Jody would like that too.

Things like that-

those little gifts in the day-

give me so much

pleasure.

That rose is now in my back yard.

My second blessing during that visit

was my brief conversation with the owner.

She had on yard clothes,

her hands were in the dirt,

and quite a bit of it was on her face.

Aha…

a kindred spirit.

Me:  Do you do all of the work yourself?

Owner:  Yes, she said. I am too impatient to do otherwise.

BAM.

In the face life lesson

available for one and all

but especially for me.

Love the color AND name. One of my favorite places is Antique Rose Emporium. Do you ever get by there when you come to the show?

  7. true gardeners really are kindred spirits...we have dirt under our fingernails and mud on our shoes. speaking of shoes, your gardening question about what we wear on our feet sparked an entry on my blog. if you have a spare minute sometime stop by and check out "garden shoes". :)

  9. I ♥ yellow roses. I would murder it or rather black rot would here. I am feeling as if someone threw me down the stairs after trimming about fifty shrubs this weekend. I am the yard man here and Joe is my part-time assistant. I did plant a large red camellia! ♥O
