Daybook March 6, 2010 Get After It

IMG_4472

Outside My Window

my mountain laurel is blooming

and that makes me very happy.

I have started my winter yard work

in earnest and the list is

LONG.

However, I am doing

what I used to tell my high school students to do,

when faced with a particularly challenging assignment:

1.  Divide and conquer

and

2.  Get after it.

I Am Thinking… that my post on margaritas was up way too long

and

mercy,

what will the neighbors think!?

From the Kitchen…  I had cheddar cheese and a gala apple for lunch

with an ice

cold diet coke.

I do not need to keep buying Ranger cookies

at Prasek’s,

outside Hilge , every time I drive to and from Houston.

I established years ago that they are delicious

and will make your eyes roll back in your head.

This experiment can now be put to rest.

I hope…

I  Am Thankful For…  this moment and

for the unadulterated joy I saw

on my oldest grandson’s face at his birthday party yesterday.

I love that he calls his mother (my oldest daughter)

Mama.

I am creating…. two more square foot garden beds

this week and

a rose cutting bed.

I am reading….blog posts.

You are amazing.

I am going… to take a photography class in April.

I am wearing… yard clothes…

same song

second verse.

  1. I need to start my yardwork soon. Keep putting it off, although I love doing it once I get out there and, as you say, "get after it."

P.S. My Mountain Laurel looks sadly sick. I think the snow and ice was too much for it...poor thing!

  5. Still to early in New England to start spring clean up. I still have major piles of snow in my yard. I will look forward to seeing how you are progressing though.

  8. Laura- what a lovely post. Your mountain laurel is beautfiul. We do not have that in this part of the country. I have the same thing with buying ice cream from a local producer...I have tried it and know that is good...so why do I have to keep buying it? lol You are a gal after my own heart! And I LOVE how you LOVE your grands! xxoo Diana

I skyped with my grandson today and he had a wonderful look on his face - I wish I had captured it. Your little fellow looks like the picture of happiness.
