Oh dear.
Just a few weeks ago,
this bougainvillea looked like this.
I feel guilty.
I should have done more
to protect my plants.
I lost my gardening focus.
Instead, I was enjoying delicious bowls of chili,
and a blanket, and my laptop
by a wonderful fire in the fireplace.
As my father would say,
my yard looks like it was
‘ridden hard and put up wet’.
This is what I need to do.
1. Go to the water district office and buy a water ticket to irrigate.
2. Fill bags and bags and bags of leaves and other debris .
3. Pry my caladium bulbs out of the refrigerator in the little house,
where I am sure they have sprouted and attached themselves to
the Diet Cokes.
4.Plant them asap, even though the timing is wrong.
5. Smile and talk to my plants and say how very sorry I am…

I'm sure they'll forgive you. This crazy weather makes it hard to remember to check on them. Spring will be here before you know and they'll be priority number one again.
they are Texas plants....they should be used to hard conditions...
I'm not a good winter gardener either! And with my recent illness even my houseplant (notice it's not plural) is looking mighty weak! Did notice today that my daffodils are up...no blooms yet though. Soon it will be spring and we'll have plenty of time to make up for our lack of attention.
Your plants will forgive you - they are always so understanding. Mine are cringing under a late snowfall, poor things.
The fact that your paper flower was that gorgeous just a few weeks ago makes me pea green with envy!
If bags and bags of leaves and debris are what you're needing...come see me! I have yards and yards full of 'em!
I'm still trying to get past the water ticket thingy!

You are kinder to your plants than I am. With this crazy weather, it is hard to take care of them.
Yeah---but your did remember to water your family and feed them, right? Just checking! Plants are pretty forgiving...except for the dead ones! xxoo Diana
it took my yard guy and i over 10 hours to make my apologies to my yard this past weekend. :(
sorry to say i lost a few beloved plants myself, and 11 contractor size bags of leaves and prunings later they just may all forgive me...there are buds showing here :D

Awww. Poor babies... You made me laugh, tho, with the diet cokes...
everyone makes mistakes and an apology goes a long ways..I am sure they will forgive you!
We have all had this happen:) Don't feel too bad, they won't hold it against you! Have a blessed day, HUGS!
During the time in the fall when I would have been doing all the "cleaning up" and such, my back and hips were in pain, so it did not get done here either. Oh my, but I have lotsa leaves to gather and things to trim back for spring!
I'm sure your plants will forgive you. I betcha I've done that a few times ;-)
It happened to us too!!! :(
Our backyard looks bare.
I can see a trip or two to the big box.
plants are quite forgiving... they keep coming back, at times uninvited!
Just be glad they aren't covered in snow!
Do plants like Diet Coke? LOL
Spring and fall are the hardest time for me to garden. The weather sneaks up on me and there are always casualties. It's easier in the summer when every day is hot and I'm just on watering autopilot.
Laura, it looks pretty sad around here too. I gave my plants special blankets, but it didn't help this time around. Now I've got a huge job ahead of me cleaning up the mess that old man winter left after his visit.
It has been a long hard winter for us all. I will be happy to see Spring....Soon!
