This morning while cleaning out a closet,
I found this shell.
My mother gave this to me when I was a little girl.
When I find forgotten treasures in my home,
I see a message.
This message is simple and twofold.
First,
take it down off the shelf-
whatever it is-
both literally and figuratively.
Find it, fix it, enjoy it.
Secondly,
I thought of a few expressions
from important people
in my life.
My husband ( at our daughters’ volleyball games).
“You’re ok. Nobody’s hurt.”
My dear friend and roommate in college:
“Everybody is just doing the best they can.”
My mother:
“I hope your team wins.”
So ,as you make your way into your Wednesday,
may I say
take it down off the shelf-whatever it is
you’re ok, nobody’s hurt
everyone around you is just doing the best they can
and
I hope your team wins.
Need I say again, I so enjoyed this! So simply stated but oh, so profound!

What a wonderful post, and that video was so very moving! My son is an EMT, so besides it making me choke up at the meaning, it also made me choke up knowing he volunteers to help others in need. Thank you for this!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Wonderful advice. You found that shell at a good time.

What a wonderful post ~ It's amazing how a little shell can touch your heart at the right time! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAmen, Laura--- and I have started using things that I used to consider too "good" to use...what the heck am I saving them for ...a graveside party? Thanks for this post--it reminds me too...that there are little moments and treasures that we need to keep forever- Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me once, every time you find a penny it means someone in heaven is thinking of you. When I find pennies now, I put them in a little dish which when I look at reminds me of all the guardian angels I am so lucky to have watching over me.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about attitude, don't you think Laura?
Beautiful words to start my day! Thank you.

Laura,
ReplyDeleteThe U Tube video was so touching. I am sniffing and wiping tears. I probably would not have watched it unless you had it on your blog. Thanks.
I loved how you expressed yourself the other day about a good day being one when you heard from your daughters about their day. I feel the same way about my kids.
That's right why to we "save" stuff for later? Or because we think it's too nice for now? Now is important too!
ReplyDeleteOh Laura, simple, but so significant and valuable. Your mother had a way of giving you branches of herself and your acceptance of it all, is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love Lady Antebellum's music, it speaks to me, deep within my soul. Thanks for sharing that with us. Sometimes I need that to complete my progress in this world! Music, is essential to me.
Love,
Nancy
