Confessions…
No.
I do not have my shopping done.
No.
I do not have my list completed.
Yes.
I wish C.R. Anthony’s still existed, who wrapped gifts for free, while you waited.
Yes.
The logos and designs on the fronts of little boy’s pajamas are disturbing this year.
Aren’t there any cowboys’ pajamas?
Is it so wrong to think a skull and crossbones is headed in the wrong direction?
No.
I do not like to wrap gifts- which probably ranks me lower than low
on the list of what creative women should love and be able to do.
Yes.
I have given my father, for lack of ideas for a man like my father, the
same flannel shirts, Car-hart jacket, handkerchiefs, Stetson cologne,
country western cds, and paperback books every year.
Yes.
I have been known to wrap the gift in the car on the way to the event.
Does Oprah have an oath for that?
Yes.
Curling ribbon and pre-made bows were my friend.
At least they were metallic.
You are probably using oxygen right now.
No.
It is not relaxing for me to sit on the floor
surrounded by scissors, tape, and gifts.
Yes.
I think the sticker person at my favorite
stores (Ross, Marshall’s, and TJ Maxx)
uses super glue at Christmas time.
Now I know why my grandmother Mamaw left all the prices on her gifts.
How freeing!
Yes.
I know this is not the reason for the season.
Yes.
I wish my 6 year old grandson had a cell phone, so I could ask him what everyone else in the
family wants for Christmas ,because no one else in the family will answer the phone.
I may give him one for Christmas!
Yes.
And this is the
BIGGEST CONFESSION OF ALL…
When Christmas shopping, I find things
I LIKE..
for
ME.
Well, I can agree with most of that!
ReplyDeleteWell, you and I are just alike!!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm so with you on many of the items on your list with the worst being the last!! I find so many things that I wouldn't even know about but discover because of Christmas shopping. My sister used to always say the best way to save money is to not shop...it is so true!!!
ReplyDeleteSo much to do and so little time!
I bet you feel so much better after this post...
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I can so identify with you on so many of these! I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)
ReplyDeleteBirds of a feather, for sure!
ReplyDeleteamen!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great posting... and under the circumstances. You rock, Laura!

Thank You So Much ! Great post! :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
C.R. Anthony's!!!!!!!!!!! That one really took me back!
ReplyDeleteOh Laura!!! I KNEW we were related! I knew it all along. I have been known to stand outside the car and wrap the present on the seat before I went in someplace. And...while I would LOVE to make all those beautifully wrapped presents (and sometimes do out of fear of embarassment) I would much rather stick it in a bag and go HERE!
ReplyDeleteLOL- A fine pair WE would make Christmas shopping. I think we are on the same page this year! Hugs-Diana
I wrap nothing, furthermore I barely buy gifts at all and if I do I put them in a Christmas bag. Maybe I am the Grinch's cousin. merry♥O
ReplyDeleteLaura, I love this post! Just got back from a quick trip to Chicago to visit my son. My confession - I bought myself a cashmere sweater and three pairs of shoes. I was at Macy's and everything was on sale! Of course, I had to buy them. Plus Macy's was all Christmasy and fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI will also confess to purposely shopping at stores where they wrap for you. Find them.
So glad someone out there is honest and does waht I do.
ReplyDeleteNo need to stress, right. Happy Holidays.
My adult kids don't answer their phones either. So I call the home phone.....I call it the red hot line. It doesn't have an answering machine and I let it ring and ring......most times a sweet granddaughter will finally answer it.
Hmm, I have probably done more shopping for me than others so far this Christmas season. And the presents I have bought are not wrapped because it is just a chore so I save it and do it all at once. Sounds like you are pretty 'normal'! :)
ReplyDeleteSo Totally Absolutely Fabulously WITH YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm already on Christmas panic mode and I don't even have my tree up yet!!! Would it be okay if I postponed my Christmas celebration to maybe January 15th???
Laura, This is a great post! I also dislike wrapping and will do anything to avoid it. No cute handmade wrapping paper or bows on my packages. I haven't started shopping yet and I don't even have a list.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays,
Sherry
You have me laughing so hard right now Laura. You are soooo funny! I think we must be twins!
ReplyDeleteExcept for
NO
I won't be giving my six year old grandson a cellphone.
All the shopping I have done lately means one thing....I will be having a wonderful time Christmas morning, because all I have bought so far is for me...
love ya
Laura, you are just too funny! I can definitely identify with some of this. Wrapping isn't my most favorite thing to do (I have tons to wrap every year) but it helps to try to think of various ways to wrap and little things you can add to some of the packages. I love to use TULLE instead of ribbon. It's much easier and looks prettier than pre-tied bows (never ever do I use those). I did lots of my shopping online from the comfort of my chair this year. Got lots of free shipping from ToysrUs and amazon. Don't ya just hate some of the graphics on our kids' clothes these days? I refuse to buy many of them...football or other sport themes go over well. Just hang in there, girl...you'll get it all done eventually...and I'm sure your father loves everything you give him.
ReplyDeleteGreat post - I could have written it if I'd been as witty as you! We are living the same life right now, I believe.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I hate wrapping, too!! I used to trade chores with my mom to get her to do it for me. Now, there is no one near to bargain with, so I'll be sittin' in the floor on Dec. 24th probably! LOL! (well, hopefully not)
ReplyDeleteAh...the questions that would have stumped even the Wise Men. Why do we sit on the floor to wrap...how does the tape get under us...where do the scissors disappear to....and most importantly...how the heck do we get back up!?!

P.S. Ditto to Pondside's comment.
Funny post Laura!
ReplyDeleteI always thought garnet hill had really cute pj's. Funny post on a frigid day in KY ~ Jennifer

Love this post - you made me chuckle! However, I love to wrap and get all creative with tags, I love the skull/crossbone phenom - especially ones with pink bows on their heads and I'm one of those who never answers the phone. :) Oh and I definitely find LOTS for me when I'm looking for others. hehe
