On days like today, I know – without a shadow of doubt- this quirky yard
is mine-
all mine.
I am the mad scientist that tries to coax things to grow and flourish
in this wild kingdom.
What in the world caused the fruit on our citrus tree in our backyard to do this?
And what is this?
Oh… and the cutter ants are back.
Sigh…
Love the butterfly...or is it a moth???
ReplyDeleteIs that a lime? Are they all like that? Is that a Butterfly? Are those eyeballs?
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world, Laura?
XO,
Jane
Gosh, Laura,

one...

Ok a lime with "cut here" marks?
ReplyDeleteNow that's impressive!
First off how lucky are you to have citrus trees. That is pretty strange a perfect stripe down the side. Nature has a sense of humor. The man up the street from me has a beautiful maple tree. One half has red leaves the other half has green. Straight down the middle. All summer long its the oddest thing.
ReplyDeleteStrange but so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAlmost looks like the skin of a walnut. How strange indeed.
ReplyDeleteIf you grow an entire orchard of limes like that you'll make all the bartenders in the world happy with built in cut marks. The Efficient Lime, Limey Lines, Line Your Lime????
ReplyDeleteI think your pet moth may have...um... had it's way... with your pet butterfly.
That is a gorgeous moth, for sure!

Looks like a moth, but have no idea what happened to the fruit.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
I'm not sure what causes the lime to be like that but I think the moth is an Io moth.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. I'll enjoy adding you to my blog list and reading some of your past posts.
Laura, do you know how much I enjoy coming over here to your quirky yard and see the beauty that abounds in it? Even your bicolored citrus! Your posts make me think, make me laugh, and make me grateful to call you friend!
ReplyDeletehugs to you from here...
Laura, what a pleasant place to visit! And I see a few friends who have added comments, including Cindy and Marla. Great gals and women of God.
ReplyDeleteI can't give you any advice on fruit trees. We recently moved to a temporary home and there are fruit trees out back but they don't look very good. Help!
The world is a glorious place!
ReplyDeletethe highs and the lows of gardening...great photos
ReplyDeleteOh My! Oh My! Oh My! Citrus and Moths and Ants-Oh My! Hugs-Diana
ReplyDeleteLaura, I sent the lime/lemon picture to a friend who knows citrus. I'm anxious to see what he says. I think I have seen this happen before. Must be the grafting?
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the moth! Think I would frame his picture.
Have a GREAT week!
