Whatever this mess of a drawer full of tupperware (and other assorted plastic storage containers) says about my housekeeping skills,
I deny it.
After I won a tug of war getting the drawer open a moment ago, lightning struck, and I had an amazing idea.
Prepare Less Food.
The best leftovers are at Thanksgiving and Christmas anyway.
Buy containers then.
Mark this off the ‘things to stew about list’ the rest of the year.
The lids above don’t match the bottoms anyway.
They only matched for about 30 minutes , during that period of time they rested hopefully in the Wal Mart sack.
Why have that failure hanging around?
Who cares?
Once Tuesday’s leftovers enter the black hole of my refrigerator, they rarely surface with their best face on anyway.
Let it Go.
Better yet.
Let THEM Go.
Woo Hoo!

um...
AMEN on that one!!!!
haha
Preparing less food is fine with me.
Uncluttering the plastic mess in the cabinet is fine with me too.
And...dreaming of Thanksgiving and Christmas food is SO FINE with me too!
Dear Laura...please forgive me for being a bad friend. It's been a while since I visited, only because I've been having so much fun on the road. I am home now and hopefully things will be calmer for the rest of the year :)
Are you going to Round Top again this fall? I'll be going opening weekend, Saturday & Sunday only, returning EARLY Monday morning. I'd love to see you again :))))
i think I have 3 pieces of Tupperware. I can't bear stacking it up and trying to keep them that way. I'm always flinging them in the trash.
xoxo

okay I agree but i feel so guilty on the money spent on the tupperware so i just keep shoving it back in the cabinet and slamming the door ;-0
any ideas ? you could do a blog post on cupboard organization step by step to get the rest of us hoarders in gear !
Sounds like a plan to me....I hate cooking anyways! LOL

LOL...and here I thought I was going to see an amazing way to spray paint those little plastic suckers and make them into wall art or something. sigh...I guess I would win if it came to a contest of who had the most...kind of like fabric! lol Diana
My Sister and I were just talking about this same topic yesterday! I tend to save only leftovers that I feel we will eat. I put them in styrofoam bowls and plates that can be tossed when we don't eat it:) I try really hard to cook only what we will eat but sometimes that is hard to do!
Enjoy your evening without all of that tupperware:) HUGS!
Oh, you brave girl, you! I'm not sure I could go through with it. Maybe the ones that didn't have a lid for the bottom, but you know, Glade makes that good clingy wrap now....
Laura..
the little dabs of leftovers are frozen,,
at the end of the week, they are tossed into my crockpot vegetable beef stew!!
when I send leftovers home with someone, I only use plastic sherbert containers..
folks somehow always forget to return the good stuff!! even with my name on it!!!
and for some reason, the containers match the lids..so no missing links there..
I do cook so you can come to my place for dinner..
okay?
warm sandy hugs..
Loui♥
Totally smiling on that idea! ~ Sarah
I feel like a huge wait has been lifted from my shoulders. I need to throw them all away and start over!! Liberate myself from the ever present pressure to match all those suckers up and figure out which bottom has a top and which top has a bottom. YOU ARE MY HERO!!!
I have a combination of TW and other plastic containers with lids. Cleaned most of TW out a while back. I do keep a supply of small containers to freeze leftovers, or send things home with others. When it builds up - I try to clean out, but sometimes let it get out of control. I try not to send leftovers home with people in "good" containers", as I have had to many to disappear. Live and Learn! Hope you are having a great week.
Really like the way you think... :)
Amen, sister!!!
Or how about just
a couple of those
vintage-y glass
leftover containers
for most of the
year and this type
for sending stuff
home at the holidays,
not expecting to
get it back?
Sounds like a
PLAN!!
xx Suzanne
OMgsh! You've been in my refrigerator! and my plastic tub drawer! Every year, organize my plastic containers knowing that THIS time I'll stay organized. The only way I've been able to stay organized there is by using the recycling bin!
LOL
Patricia :o)
YES! You are on the "right" track/trail! Now imagine Mel Gibson screaming "FREEDOM!"
I'm climbing on this glory train even if I'm the caboose! No.more.cool whip containers...out damn plastic tops...tubs, we don't need no stinking butter tubs!
Debbie
My husband laughs at my plastic collection cabinet. He says there's probably a dead body in there somewhere!
I think you are onto something!
This is the one place in my house where I'm fairly organized. I actually wear my TW out and have to throw it away. It's all stacked, and the lids are neatly standing in a basket to the left. Please don't hate me. The rest of my house more than compensates for this peculiarity.
By George I think you've got it!
This will not work for me but I love your tenacity. My Joe loves leftovers and takes a lunch to work every day. I despise the lid problem however. I am terribly fond of Tupperware but not the other stuff. hugs♥olive
oh boy, how right you are! I, for one, get so sick of plastic stuff falling out of my cupboard and nothing matches anyway!
xo
Claudia
I go through and pitch plastic often. With just 2 of us here, there are always leftovers...but we eat them once more and pitch what is left. I have very little real tupperware left...just big ones. I swear this stuff reproduces. Someone around here needs to come up with a way to make it into Christmas decorations!
I have all sorts of that inexpensive plastic stuff piling up - I swear it breeds in the drawer!
You are a genius!
Great idea. I have swapped out my plastic for a few glassware items. I'm a little freekie in my old age about all that plastic. Fewer containers, fewer leftovers. Linda
I sooooooo agree! I hardly have any plastic containers left. It's SOOOO freeing! Great post!
