This is the back of my car.
I am leaving tomorrow to drive to Dallas to help my daughter move.
I am taking two pink chairs,
white twill slipcovers from Target,
three Martha Stewart mirrored lamps from KMart,
a charcoal gray shag rug ,
charcoal gray, faux raw silk fabric to create a shower curtain,
a print remnant to make pillows, if she likes the pattern,
multiple prints,
my Martha Stewart tool box,
a box of picture hangers,
multiple cans of spray paint,
an apron, in case she ever wants to wear one,
three gifts from sister#2- a front door mat, a striped rug, and a bust,
and lots of
zippered bags from Mexico , which are wonderful when moving.
My husband and I realized years ago that hiring movers and a truck for 2 hours (which is actually a reasonable price)
is
cheaper than going to the emergency room.
Having just moved some friends out of a 10 room house, into a 2 bedroom condo, and discovering the first morning of the move that they had no clue about how to move (perhaps packing beforehand is a good idea)- I'm now a big fan of hiring movers and their muscles. Although if they saw my house and it's thousands of books, they'd probably pay me to let them leave.
ReplyDeleteYep, cheaper than an emergency room visit, lol!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the photo, but before I did any reading, my first thought was that you helping a daughter move. My car has looked that same way, many times and I never tire of hoping my girls will love everything I think they should love :)
This is so exciting, Laura. I know your creative juices are flowing. Your daughters are chips off the old block though. I can't wait to see how this is going to turn out. So what is "baby" daughter's color scheme? I probably had a few things to contribute too... seeing as how our "project" isn't panning out like we had hoped. lol
ReplyDeleteHave fun. Remember, injuries from pulled backs and and falls from high ladders (AND step ladders) do not heal as quickly as in years past!

Having moved ourselves multiple times + having moved kids even more times, we too have learned that hiring the professionals is cheaper in the long run!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move, looks like Mums Rock once again!
What an awesome Mom! I can't wait to see how it turns out! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is going to be thrilled with all of the loot! You are a dear for helping her nest!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Have fun! It's going to look fabulous, I can tell!!
ReplyDeleteShe will love it all, I am sure! Professional movers IS the way to go:) They know exactly what they are doing and no ER! Enjoy your trip and time with your daughter!
ReplyDeleteHUGS!
I always equate moving to childbirth. You forget how bad it is until you do it again and then you wonder why you did it again! LOL! I love all the goodies you;re bringing. She'll love them, too.:)
ReplyDeleteLucky girl, your daughter is. Can't wait to see what all you two create! Have fun in the big D! One of my favorite cities.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky daughter! My mom never offered to help with the numerous moves during my single days. LOL I know you are going to have a fun time getting your daughter settled into her new home. I'll look forward to seeing what you girls do.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun time in Round Top. I'm going tomorrow.

Aw, have a nice time, Laura. You are a sweety for helping her out. This brings back memories of when we moved our oldest son Jr.

What a mom! Your daughter is so fortunate to have such wonderful help and come loaded up with such great things.
ReplyDeleteI too have parents who have always been there for me and seeing your car packed with so many wonderful things and knowing that you are not just dropping off but going to work, well.....very touching.
You sooooooo deserve the detour to Marburger!
All that in one car!
ReplyDeleteThis all looks very promising indeed! I can't wait to see the results. Have a wonderful time and safe journey. ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteYou're a good momma. Such fun pieces and great colors. Good luck with the move.
ReplyDeleteOh she's getting some good stuff! My daughter's last move (finally to a place all her own) she had to work so many hours that she just told me to go in and decorate it. It was fun...I felt like a designer on a tight budget!
ReplyDelete..."and a bust" well one must have one when moving dear Laura. You are a wonderful mother! Be safe♥olive
ReplyDeleteOh what a trunk of goodies! She is going to be so excited to see all that stuff offloaded into her place! I love that your brought her an apron too. And who doesn't need a bust? Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteLooks like a car full of treasures. Your daughter is very fortunate to have you help her.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip.
Wow, you sure got a lot into your car! I agree about hiring a moving van, though whenever I have moved, I have enlisted friends to help. I remember being bone tired this last move, which was move #3 in three years. NOT recommended! I am eager to see how all of those things you are taking her are utilized.

Your daughter is so lucky to have you for a Mom! After helping my daughter, to move 7 times in 5 years, I paid for movers for her last move! lol Worth every penny, especially since it was in August and 95 degrees! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise she will have when she sees all those goodies. Have a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mum you are! Have a good time - and watch out for your back!...and shoulders...and knees!
ReplyDeleteYou leaving the house without spray paint would be a SIN!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
I hope you have lots of fun in between the "work" and enjoy your time with daughter.
Don't be sad but I really missed not seeing you this weekend in RT. It just wasn't the same without you. I kept looking in every direction, hoping you would stroll up and surprise me.
I was thinking of you!!!
Wake up that nap pretending husband of yours and TELL HIM that you are coming in the Spring...ok?
;))))
love and miss you~
Laura, You are my 200th follower and I had to stop by and thank you. I tell you, I was absolutely delighted. Thrilled, in fact! It's so very nice to make new blogger friends, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYou don't have much room for Round Top purchases in there! Anxious to hear how it all goes! I can't tell you how many times we moved the kids...with the daughter we eventually started paying movers! It's worth it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you'll do with all of those goodies. Thanks so much for your kind words on my blog-sorry it's taken me awhile to get over here.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is lucky to have such a talented and creative mother to help her settle into her new place. You can come here and bring those goodies any time!!! Love, love the bust from sister! Have fun and be safe.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip..don't work too hard...
