‘Old Friends’ and a Tip

IMG_2100

This morning, in playing with my dishes, I brought out some old ‘friends’, and as a result, things you have seen before.

That makes sense, right?

I just arranged them differently.

IMG_2112

My inspiration was a tapestry drapery panel I bought years ago at Dollar General.

That is my tip by the way.

I try to always look at packaged curtain and drapery panels at discount stores (the only place I really shop), because I love using them everywhere but at the window.

Just make sure it is the 81” panel.

IMG_2086

I actually started with a burgundy tablecloth to use with my black and white transfer ware, but I thought it looked a little Christmasy.

IMG_2093

The black chargers with the bronze border are ceramic and were 90% off at Hobby Lobby two years ago.

Is that even a price?

They are heavy.

IMG_2110

I added my King’s Crown goblets- which I have always called cranberry glass- and then, for a twist, I used dull green napkins.

IMG_2113

I feel like I need to say,

“You had to be there”,

because of all of these colors.

My photography today doesn’t really show that it did work.

Have a wonderful weekend.

My trip to Round Top this weekend had to be changed.

I am headed to Dallas to help Daughter #3 move from an apartment into a duplex early next week and my own work duties call.

You should see the pile of stuff I am taking to Dallas.

I wonder if I will get to bring back some of my things that have been on loan?

Hmmm.

I am linking to these wonderful parties.  These ladies provide us all with a fun way to share our inspiration and our home.

Laura, your last question made me laugh! Of course you don't get back the stuff we "loan" to our kids. Once the item is in their hot little hands.....that's why they love us, cuz we love to help them....Have fun with your daughter.

Great tip about the drapery panels, you clever girl! I'm going to remember that one. The table looks elegant with the rich colors. Love that transfer ware.
Sorry to hear you'll miss Round Top. I plan to go next week.
Have a safe trip to Dallas.

Lovely tablescape -- especially love the black and white dishes, and the ruby glasses -- wonderful together.
As for getting stuff back from offspring . . . hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Good luck.
Let us know how that works out for you.

Laura it is so pretty! I love using drapery panels on a table. I have some kings crown goblets in the red! Love those chargers!

This is my first visit to your blog, so your "old friends" seem like new to ME! :-) Besides, it's wonderful when people understand that "creativity" comes from being able to create multiple table arrangements from a single design! What a wonderful bargain on the chargers from Hobby Lobby. My sister purchased some glass ones with goldleaf rims on clearance at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago for just $2 per. I was THRILLED!!! You have good reason to be, too!!! Very pretty!

Laura- Your setting is lovely! I really like it and you did a nice job putting everything together. I have those same glasses/sherbert servers. We have always called them Thumbprint ruby glass. They belonged to MyHero's grandmother. I took 8 and another family member took the other 8. I love them...and they are lovely with the black and white. Great choice!

Hugs- Diana

ps..just to let you know-I have a free magazine give away going on over at my blog if you are interested!

I LOVE those drapery panels!! What a great idea, now I'm going to check out Family Dollar again!! Really, the combination of the transferware, the glassware, and the colors in the drapery panel are incredible together. I don't have transferware that color, but I'll be copying everything else, lol! Beautiful!!

Hi, I love that you used the drapery panel in a different way. I've used different things also, like a shower curtain as a table cloth. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. I love your table. Have a great weekend.

Kind of like reworking your wardrobe, huh? I hear a lot about Hobby Lobby but there aren't any up this way. :( Beautiful table!! xo

Love the drapery panel tip! You didn't mention the artichokes you included, but there was a beautiful pile of them at HEB last week that tempted me to try tablescaping with them. At almost $1.50 each, though, I decided I needed firmer plans before diving in! Your cranberry glass is just gorgeous and looks fabulous with the black and white china.

How pretty this is! I too love using other items on tables that aren't meant to be. Scarves are an excellent example. Okay, now I have something else to look for at the Dollar store! You have the prettiest dishes!

so happy to have you as a follower on my blog "always curtsy when you sneeze.com". having spent some time cruising yours, I see that you are a woman of impecible taste with an eye for a fabulous bargain. I too am a thrifty shopper, and love to find items on sale that I know are being sold elsewhere for much more. your color selections and groupings for this particular table are really beautiful. I'd kill for those chargers. hope to see you again at "curtsy", and that you have an injury free moving experience with your daughter this weekend. say hello to Texas. My sister lives there, and it looks like everyone else in my family will be moving there eventually too. you say south texas, are you near S. Padre? Take care, Keri
