Is Round Top on the Way To Dallas?

image

Conversation With My Husband This Morning

Me:  “On my way to Dallas Wednesday , I thought I would go by Round Top.”

Husband, looking at me in disbelief :  “But if you do that, you will be heading east.”

Me, thinking it is not the pioneer days, and I am not pulling a covered wagon through the mountains before snowfall, but on second thought, I bet if I found a hutch in Round Top it would fit nicely in a covered wagon… and what is so wrong with ‘heading east’?, but instead I said:

Well if I leave at 4:30 am, I can get to Round Top by 10:30 am, and then I can explore until 4:00 pm, and then I can get to Dallas before dark.”

(this is another pioneer rule we use- you can drive around in circles all day if you want to, but you need to get where you are going before dark)

Husband, looks at me like I am crazy.

Several Hours Later During a Football Game on Television

Me: “Is a U-Haul trailer expensive?”

(I know what it costs because I have rented one before, but I LOVE seeing his reaction.  It is soooo much fun.)

Husband: Pretends he is taking a nap during the commercial.

Since he called on James Dick Foundation for years and so familiar with area...he laughed...now I just need a jet, oh, money to spend, then someone to bring it back for me....well a girl can dream can't she???
Have a fun time!!!

Sounds reasonable to me. I mean, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Hilarious!!!
I get the same kind of reaction from my guy when I ask such silly questions!! But sometimes it's just fun to ask and see his reaction!!

Oh how I would love to go there! Wonder what my husband would say if I said we were going on a little road trip to Round Top:) Have a blessed evening! HUGS!

That conversation sounds a wee bit familiar to me. The Great Dane has amazing selective hearing and uses it in such conversations.
I wish there was something like Round Top up here - nothing at all, at all. :(

Yes - most men do have selective hearing. :-D I have done a lot of traveling, but the older I get the more I dislike long road trips.

I don't know a thing about ROUND TOP but it sounds fun! I, however, don't like long trips, especially by myself. Of course, a little shopping along the way makes any trip much better!

Well...I mean...it sounds like a plan to me. Let me know when you'll be in Round Top and I'll ask my hubby if I can get there and back in one day....:)))

Laura- Well, I see you are guided by the same GPS system that I am....I once went to British Columbia (driving with my two teenage daughters) via Oklahoma (leaving from Wisconsin)...yeah...it was a great drive and my husband still doesn't want to talk about it- Hugs- Diana

Ok.. so now I know that there could possibly be a U-Haul trailer parked on our street. Warning: I plan to stop and see what treasures you came home with. You lucky lady!!

Laura, the way I see it, by going to Round Top you won't have to travel IH 35. Now that's got to be a good thing! ;-)
I'll be in Round Top next week. Can't wait! ~ Sarah

It's fun to mess with them .Too cute. I think most women could relate to that.

I think you and I have the same husband ... being helpful for him means (1) correcting my plan/scheme/project in the spirit of 'helping', or (2) pointing out why my plan/scheme/project won't work as planned. To avoid all of this, I just don't tell him about most things unless it's something he truly needs to know. This system works well for us, and the marriage is preserved. Everyone wins.

My husband swears he has a hearing problem, and in truth, I guess he does if he is only hearing what he wants. Is it a husband thing? My kids have it too!!

Don't you have a big pick-up truck? I have a truck (really a large Jeep) I use just for junkin. We also have a trailer we hook to the Jeep. Of course we do not go to any of these wonderful places you refer to. We just junk in situ. So are you going to Round Top? ♥O

Heeeelarious!! You are my kinda girl.

I think that's why I could never get any of those "critical thinking / problem solving" questions right in school.

When it says something like, "If a bus departs at 7:30 am and travels at 50 mph and covers a distance of 92 miles, what time will it arrive at it's final destination?" I always thought the obvious answer was "it depends on how many garage and estate sales are in the route" my teachers sadly did not.

Oh, this sounds like our house. The difference is that I don't travel alone...so he gets stuck going to my "out of the way" places with me.

Went to Canton one year with 5 other women. We had to rent a uhaul truck up there because all the trailers were gone! Plan ahead!
