Dear Garden,
I just wanted to say thank you. You have given me immeasurable pleasure this year.
During your blooming season, each day was a brand new day of surprise for me. You knocked my socks off.
I even blogged about you.
We both learned this summer that August is the month where you just couldn’t do it anymore. You said, ‘I’m done’.
May I say how impressed I am that you lasted that long ?
Don’t stew over the fact that you now look like you were ridden hard and put up wet. Believe me- I know the feeling.
I’ve got your back.
We’ll figure out a plan in October. I promise I will work on it. I made some mistakes, and I apologize.
I know now that gardening books are great fun- and you know how I like to buy books- but my Zone 9 friends are the best source of information.
Even after the hard rain we had the last two days, some of you still aren’t interested in coming back to life.
I am so sorry.
It’s time to rest now.
I should have had that garden party I was planning earlier this spring. I’ll give you some time to re-group.
You deserve it.

My yard and potted plants have all had it too. We need rain desperately here. My yard is drying up and the potted flowers on the deck will soon be replaced.
I couldn't write this letter to my summer garden...it burned up early! It tried but this summer heat was just too much. Next year I think I'll just grow more grass! Sure wish you could send of that rain our way.
I know your flowers appreciated you greatly! They'll be ready to work for you again quicker than you think.

awwww, so sweet. My garden didn't stand a chance this year with all the strange weather. I'll keep planning and hoping for nest year though..;p
What a nice post! I am so proud of my garden for hanging in as long as it did in the heat. It is also done! Time soon for some Fall flowers!

It was a tough year for gardens...but there is always next year when once again hope will spring anew and the the lure of the garden shop will be too strong to withstand...I cannot imagine my world without my flower gardens.

That is the wonderful part about gardening...Give them some time off to regain their strength and their ready to show off again next year. Mine has done pooped out,too. Even my last few roses are only a shadow of their former selves. Patty

Our flowers got a little drained from the constant 90 degree weather all summer here in Atlanta. But the Sprinbg was absolutely gorgeous! Loved your post!
It was a difficult summer for gardens. We have had no rain for about a month. I shudder to think of the water bill. We put out 300lbs of pellitized lime last Saturday to give evreything a little boost! Maybe I need some. hugs♥olive
Maybe I should write a letter to my garden too and apologize! From no rain to tons of rain they arent too happy right now!
Oh, I just LOVED this post, Laura! I've got lots of apologizing to do to my garden this year...sadly neglected by me, I'm afraid! My husband was a good care-taker, however!
