Daybook October 4, 2010

IMG_2122

(This is a favorite spot in my home that draws my eye each day. It may stay this way forever…)

Outside My Window… I see the work I have to do in my yard, but I just got home from helping our youngest daughter move and set up her new home, and

I can not MOVE.

I am smiling as I think about the fun we had- the times we were both probably biting our tongues to respect the other’s adult feelings- the wonderful lunches we had at Corner Market, how amazing her duplex is, how after an hour at Canton with record crowds we could both agree to just go home, and the urgency I felt.

I wanted to work as HARD and fast as I could- or shall I say

as I think I can.

I Am Thinking… that when you do not stop while driving, you can really save time.

(Do not tell my husband I said that. I reserve the right to stop.)

I left Dallas at 2:30 pm and I got home at 10:45 pm after stopping twice.

I Am Thankful For… the change in temperature . It is a signal that everything will be OK.

From the Kitchen…  not much can happen until I go to the grocery store.

My favorite things to buy at Sam’s, when I occasionally shop there, are fresh asparagus, a large package with 6 heads of romaine lettuce, and a tub of grape tomatoes.

Their rotisserie chicken is the best you will ever taste.

It is also big.

I am reading… training materials.  Day 3 (of a 6 day training) is tomorrow, and I will be presenting on working with parents.

I am hearing … a song in my head. I heard it while listening to Prairie Home Companion on the radio yesterday in my car.

I love Prairie Home Companion.

(I Can’t Stand the Rain)

I am hoping for …a good week for YOU.

  9. Love the rakes!! You might be hard on things, Miss Laura, but it's because you throw heart and soul into everything you touch. Which brings me to your "touch" comment a few years back. Have you touched everything you own this year? I'm working on it. Hence, the booth!
It's going to be a great week!

  11. Yes, naps! Some days I just need my power nap. Just like a baby, they turn the glassy eyes back into bright eyes.

My car also gets filled with soooo much also. I even carry extra blankets to cover and protect any "treasures" I might find.

Yes, yes, and yes, very thankful.

  17. I will begin working with my new teachers this week. Two are "seasoned" and I'm not sure how they are going to accept the fact that I'm coming "to help." Hope they will understand that (1) I'm just doing my job and (2) I really want to help them be the best they can be. Pray for me!!!

  25. Laura~ What a comical post. I think I missed a whole day or two of posts when I was gone. I, too, am hard on things...well...some things...like gardening gloves. However, I will tell you a trick I learned. I soak a cotton ball with baby oil (or use vaseline on my fingers) and drop the cotton ball into the finger (or thumb hole) and then my finger tips don't pop thru them as easily. Plus...I get some softening treatment cuz I am REALLY hard on my hands.

Hope your week is simple-y divine! Diana
