For Today
(Beach vacation photo, June 2010)
Outside my window... my yard is hanging on for dear life. Things are green from the rain, but it is so HOT.
I am making a plan for the fall planting season. I would like to surround the perimeter of the backyard with white plumbago, and I regret not buying more when the Tree of Life nursery had them in stock.
I also want to add more raised beds, but I want them to look pretty- regardless of the season or the success of what I plant .
You were probably inspired , like I was, by the garden in the film It’s Complicated.
Can you imagine working in a space like that each day?
If I had a space like that, I would give it a name.
So many people refer to garden areas as their potager.
I love that- but I just can’t.
I don’t speak French, and learning to speak French is not on my To Do list.
However,
I could name it
Jardin de las Hermanas
The Sisters’ Garden.
I have 3 daughters (3 sisters), and my father calls me Sister.
I am thinking of... putting a moratorium on spending for a certain period of time (even the flea market, yikes!). So many people in the world of blogging do that.
I am thankful for... my family and friends.
I am a tad reclusive. Sometimes I feel shy.
I did not set out to be that way. I want my friends to understand, but I understand if they don’t. They are all so dear to me.
From the learning rooms... I am going to a work session with my training partner today. We are meeting at a public library (one of my all-time favorite places). The library she has picked serves coffee!
From the kitchen... we had my father and daughter (who lives nearby)over for supper last night.
Menu: rib eyes, green salad with Marie’s Ranch dressing (the best), corn casserole, twiced baked potatoes, and I made dessert (one of those quick desserts with cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, and a yellow cake mix).
I am wearing…(guess?) yard clothes
I am creating... a new bed with a new tiny cantera fountain I got at the flea market.
I am going... to do more organizing this afternoon.
I am reading... The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
I am hoping... my daughters have a blessed day.
I am hearing... songs on my IPod. I am preparing a post about music some day soon.
Around the house... I am going to start making some changes I have been thinking about for a while.
One of my favorite things... my husband’s sense of humor. Actually it is such a part of who he is, I should just say…my husband.
He cuts me a lot of SLACK, and still makes me laugh.
All he has to say is ‘that’s not right’, and I know I need to straighten up.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
*I am planning a list of school supplies for my oldest grandson- not for school, but rather to use at home.
He will be in first grade.
I am going to buy him an electric pencil sharpener and a million #2 pencils. He can sharpen them down to the nub, and then I’ll buy him a million more.
Everyone enjoys a sharpened pencil, don’t they?

one can never have enough plumbago.
ReplyDeletedinner with the family, sounds so great! we live to far from ourus :-(
Have a blessed week
I cannot get past a public library that serves coffee! I loves libraries in general but if they served coffee I would be simply smitten and have great difficulty getting on with my day. I always enjoy your day journal entries. Hugs...olive

Your writings are always good reading! Have a blessed day and when you get your garden looking like that picture... come do mine:)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs! Ganky!
I really enjoyed this day book post and will have to give it a try. I too like the idea of spending less, especially for the garden - I'll depend on the generosity of friends, and then pass my surplus along too. One more thing - the supplies for at home for your grandson - a great idea!
ReplyDeletei completely forgot about the 110 degree heat index when i looked at your beautiful photo of those flowers! wow!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great REAL all around woman you are!
