Casting in the Rain

First of all, thank you for your prayers.  We are doing well. 

Other than no electricity for most of yesterday (and I will never do that again without a battery operated fan- thank you Marguerite for that tip), and a new roof that leaked , all is well.

The brush you see along our street was actually trimmed to free power lines.

Secondly, I want to thank my neighbor Karen of Ladybug Creek . Ladybug Creek is her wonderful blog.

Although she lost electricity as well, she offered us a place to stay, she asked about my father (who lives next door to her), she asked about our daughter Lauren, and she invited us over.

By that point our roof was leaking, and we couldn’t leave.

Thank you dear Karen.

Now for true confession.

During a rain spell that wasn’t that fierce, it dawned on me that I should put out some lawn fertilizer.

So…

I happily went out in the rain, grabbed two bags of inexpensive fertilizer I bought at KMart, put them in my wheelbarrow and started casting .

In the meantime, my husband and father were sitting on our front porch drinking iced tea and watching the storm.

I wish I had a picture of their faces as I rounded the corner with that wheelbarrow.

As I started manually casting fertilizer in the rain,

I am sure my father was thinking

“What is THAT girl doing?”

He didn’t comment, but as he was pulling out of our driveway, iced tea in hand, I saw him slowly stop and pull back in.

Through his front passenger window, this is what I heard .

Daddy:  “Sister?”

Me:  “Yes sir?”  (mopping rain out of my face, smiling to beat the band…)

Daddy: “Do it like this.” (swinging his arm horizontally).
