As I sat down to write this post, with the quilted throw shown above in my lap, it occurred to me that putting all of the random ideas I have dancing in my head in writing is like cleaning out the refrigerator.
Why?
Because the task of cleaning out the refrigerator may not be my first choice (I have writer’s block , and I am at a loss for an interesting topic), doing that is far better than eating Girl Scout cookies- which has far reaching consequences (pun intended).
My logic works like this.
A. I can’t think of anything to write.
B. Writing down random thoughts reminds me of cleaning out the refrigerator.
Therefore-the refrigerator will be clean, and I will have cleaned out my thinking of expired, random thoughts as well.
Conclusion: I have a topic.
This is the back side of the throw. I bought this today at Ross for $12.99. It is now my new family heirloom.
Random Thoughts
*My left eye has been twitching off and on for about a week. May I say that this is VERY ATTRACTIVE. I have been told by friends that I am not getting enough sleep ,or I may be looking at a computer screen too long. Hmmm.
*Watching the winter Olympics takes nerve. Everything looks like it hurts, yet everyone is smiling and proud. I hide my eyes half the time, even during ice skating. I am exhausted.
*Several people asked about my journals. They are from Barnes and Noble. I fell in love with them for these reasons: when open, the journal is completely flat, the lines are wide ruled, and I like the collection process of having more than one. The problem is that when I first started buying them about 4 years ago ,they were around $16.00 – which I know is expensive. Now they are $26.95 (unless my eyes deceived me- the print was small). Yikes!
*I wish I still had my Schaeffer fountain pen with peacock blue ink cartridges.
*In March ,Daughter #2 and I are going to have a small booth at an antique mall. I have done this before. It was not a money making proposition- I price things too low. How does this rate sound?
$50 a month rent for a 4’ deep by 6’ wide space
the owner charges 15% on each sale
Am I crazy?
Now my eye is REALLY twitching.

My husband has a 10X10 booth and pays $175 a month and they charge 11% for things in the booth and 21% for furniture. Good luck.
Sounds like you have the Mardi Gras blues, cher! It's a condition that Cajuns get after all of the excitement of Mardi Gras is over. lol Not to worry, Spring is right around the corner and that will fix everything. Sounds like a good deal, at the antique mall.
So glad you found my Texas-Blogging Gals! Will get you on the next updated list. The giveaway closes tonight.
Come visit me at my personal blog, too, real soon!
The twitching is a barometer for stress! You need to hang loose and have some fun!
I'm with Cottage girl...Stress...
My left eye has been twitching for weeks now...I know where my stress is coming from though and this too shall pass.
You made me laugh tonight with your random thoughts.
Stop over and enter my giveaway if you haven't already!!!

Stress...then my eye should be twitching too...all they do is fall asleep when I hit the couch!
On your booth...my theory and experience is...dont fill it up with fillers, fill it up with fast sellers.
I have a small shop and I can't have things that don't move...it has to rotate constantly. Mark it down and get it out if it doesnt sell quickly.
let us know how it goes for you.
I like random thoughts...reveals a lot about a person. I too love and miss the Schaeffer's. What is it about a great writing tool? I can't stand the throw away ones. Now that the fridge is all clean, you can turn the thermostat down a notch and just chill!
Debbie
Stopping by from the Texas Blogging Gals site...welcome!
You know, for just cleaning out your "frig," you're pretty funny.
I do wish you would have posted a picture or link or something about the journals...I can't stay away from a good journal, and what you described sounds PERFECT! So does the pen, for that matter. I just like the sound of the color...
Nice to meet you!
Go to bed early and rest that twitching eye, oh no, now mine is doing it! (Love the throw) And I like the comparison...very true..good topic too! Come say hi :D
Cleaning out the fridge ranks right up there with dusting for me, and I think there must be a connection here. Too many "things" to take care of properly. Kindof like the inside of MY head also. Here are my thoughts. I have little splotches on my skin. Lotion? Bath soap? old age? and my house is a mess with stuff ready to take to the flea market booth. and I have on "hospital" socks, the kind that you can put on either way because there's tread on both sides. like "idiot mittens" except for your feet.
love you,
Debra

p.s. Hey, sounds like you and I will be getting into the same kind of shopping "trouble". Glad to hear that it's a joint effort with your daughter. It should be great fun! The rent seems like a great deal.

There are times when we are getting down to elaborate and make some kind of deduction, the random thoughts are not there to help..... ~bangchik
Love the throw! I am in love with throws:) I would like to have a booth but just can't seem to pay that high monthly fee and then a % on MY stuff. I know that I would enjoy it but just doesn't seem to me that I could make much money. We'll see... have a blessed day dear Laura!
I hate when that twitching thing happens! The last time I had it, it was my lip that was twitching. YOu feel like the whole world can see it.
I love fountain pens. I went to levenger.com and bought a few years ago and got pink, purple and blue ink cartridges. It makes a grocery list more fun to do.
Good luck with your new booth. The price sounds reasonable to me. Especially if you don't have to be there! Though it is a small space.
I read UP ISLAND years ago and enjoyed it. What did you think of CHERRIES IN WINTER? I thought I might read that one. Would like to hear your thoughts on it.
Yes, I miss my Schaffer with the ink cartridges. Brings back so many memories!!!
Hi Laura, I get that twitching thing once in a while, too. Stress and lack of sleep. It's all related. I like random thoughts. I get so many in my head, too. I should "clean out my refrigerator".
Wow! I never knew this eye twitching thing was so common!
The rent and commission depends on your location and how much traffic goes through that store. In our area, they only charge rent...no commission.
In my small town area they only charge the rent, not the commission. Still, it sounds like a good deal, and a good idea. Hope it goes well for you. Keep us posted.
Get some sleepy time tea and drink a cup every night before going to bed. I guarantee it will help with the eye twitch.
I've enjoyed getting caught up with you, been a little too busy to blog lately.
Deb
What a great post... loved reading your random thoughts.... the quilt is really pretty... have a great weekend.

Hi Laura ,Great post...I had a Dr. tell me years ago that eye twitching is caused by stress...
xoxo

Sounds like a cool thing. Maybe it'll help your eye quit twitching.
Don't you just hate the twitching eye thing. My right eye went bonkers last week and drove me nuts. I felt everyone could see the twitch but when I looked in the mirror it was only obvious to me. Happy twitching, which is also a term for bird watchers. They are called Twitchers and it is twitching when you do the wathing. Now there is a random comment, it must be catching..... Maureen.......
Oh pooh, I see I made a mistake, I meant to write WATCHING. Now my eye is really twitching, yikes someone get me a Tylenol!!!
The booth sounds like fun! I usually have that twitching eye thing when I'm sleep deprived. Which may or may not be stress related.
Manuela
My right eye does that from time to time and it drives me INSANE!!! Hope it stops soon!
Eye twitching is most likely caused by stress, too much caffeine or nicotine! (I have worked for an ophthalmologist for 14+ years) For me it is usually the caffeine! Enjoyed checking out your blog!
