Wrapping Gifts Plus a True Confession

IMGP0460

At the risk of offending Christmas gift wrapping experts far and wide, I must say-

I do not enjoy wrapping gifts.

After an hour or so , wrestling with two pairs of scissors, a disappearing act pen, regular tape, and double sided tape (which is a product I rank right up there with sorting jumbled up coat hangers ) , this is what I have to show for my efforts.

        Does anyone understand?

  1. I do. I was actually complaining about gift wrapping in my last blg post. I used to enjoy it but it seems like such a hassle now.

  2. I hear your pain. I feel so so SO guilty, because I just read Tracey's sweet post on gift wrapping at French Larkspur. I want the packages to be pretty, but, I just end up with a back ache from sitting in the floor for two hours! I need 10 pairs of scissors and 10 rolls of tape because it's always under all the mess!
Thank you, thank you Laura. Now I know I'm not alone (wiping sweat from my forehead)
AND BTW, what are you doing up this late, honey?
    love ya,
    Debra

  3. Hi Laura,
I think we can all relate! Even those among us who enjoy wrapping beautiful packages surely must get weary (or perhaps they don't wait until the last minute to wrap piles of packages as their backs scream in agony!)

Hope you and yours have the happiest of Christmases!

    Warm regards,
    Bill

  4. Yes, yes, yes! I wrapped gifts for days in a row. I set up a little table in front of the TV with all my equipment and go to it. You see, I LOVE to shop and buy lots of gifts. I REALLY enjoy buying the gifts but do not enjoy wrapping after a while. I start out with ribbons and decorations and in the end they are lucky if the paper meets on the back:) Have a wonderful day and stay safe and warm!

  5. You are too funny! Oh, I have such plans for my packages this year....(I haven't even started). Perhaps the pretty packaging will be "bumped" along with so many of my other ideas and plans...Gift bags, here I come!
    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Susie

  7. I have two little secrets:
    (1) my husband will wrap gifts for me and then I do the decorating part. Shhhh!!
    (2) gift bags... they're so easy ;-)

  8. I'm down on the floor with you trying to find those scissors! I always think I'll keep up with the buying...but 1 + 1 does not always equal sanity!

  9. Me, Me, Me, I understand. I really dislike wrapping gifts. They take me hours to do, I have to lock myself away in a bedroom and do the best that I can.

I come out the other side, hot, bothered, flustered and cranky. Not a good thing at all, Maureen....

  10. Just yesterday I went to meet a friend for lunch, with a gift. I looked at the box and just put a ribbon around it that said Merry Christmas. It looked just fine and she loved the gift. Sometimes less is more when it comes to wrapping and saving your time for something else :).

  11. Oh, Yes!
I despise those little peanut things that fly all over the place at the slightest poof of air. Gift bags do it for me! Enjoy the holidays!

  12. Hi Laura, for struggling wrappers everywhere...I salute you!!! My knees hurt just thinking about it. Eveytime I try to do it at the table, I drop the sissors and/or tape so many times, I may as well be on the floor. How do so many people do this with so much grace and elegance?
(in a life before this one, I actually used to do this at a store for a living...I hated it then too)lol

  14. okay... well I have to admit that I enjoy wrapping Christmas presents. My step-daughter told me yesterday that she LOVES the special way that I wrap each gift making it look too pretty to open... I have no idea where this talent came from, and I don't know why I like doing it... but I do... maybe the enjoyment comes from the look on each recipents face when I place the gift in their hands... and no, I'm not super-organized... my tape, pen and scissors disappear frequently during the process... I just like doing it... OCD?
