The inspiration for my third Christmas tree( and yes, I have three) is my mother’s gold ornaments and her zebra print shawl..
The shawl, which she made and wore often, is part of the tree skirt I use for this tree each year.
Her vintage gold ornaments are evident throughout the tree, but I have added many more over the years.
This tree is in our den, which is where we do our television watching, and where I do my blogging. This tree sits at my right shoulder.
This den is the hub of our home.
Behind where I usually sit is our fireplace and this garland.

Oh, Laura... your mother's shawl. How wonderful! I hope you get a chance to wear it after the holidays. It's so you and your mom. The jackets and coats that were my mother's are like the best hug in the world.

ReplyDeleteI won't be sassy with my comment out of respect for your mother. She was obviously a woman of great taste. How lucky for you that along with her treasures she passed that same wonderful sense of style on to you. You are one blessed woman. Class cannot be bought...you either have it or you don't. You, my friend, have it!

Glad you can sit and blog and enjoy your beautiful Christmas tree. I like to get my decorations up early so that I have time to enjoy them for more then a few weeks. Such a magical time of the year. Now taking it all down is a whole other story and it gives me a headache:)

ReplyDeleteLaura, what a unique and wonderful way to honor your Mother at Christmas time, truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo so beautiful. Your mother's shawl makes it so special. I have most of my beautiful ornaments in storage. We are currently living in what once was a vacation home - so it ony has basic Christmas decorations. All of the meaningful things are locked away for a second year in a row. I miss them more this year than last year. I think as we get older the things that we enjoy looking at become more important. The little ornaments our children made, the ones from lunches with friends, are so meaningful. Enjoy your beautiful home. I certainly have enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty golden glow from your tree -- how meaningful to decorate with your mother's shawl and include her memory in your decorating.
ReplyDeleteLaura, your decor takes my breath away ... it is gorgeous! How special you have Mother's shawl to use & inspire each year. A precious keepsake & memory of her.
