As our Christmas gift to each other, my husband and I took a quick trip to San Antonio, stayed at The Gunter Hotel, and saw a show at The Majestic theater.
When we arrived (it is about a 5 hour drive), we walked to Schilo’s Delicatessen and had reubens, homemade root beer, and split pea soup. Since it was cold outside, it was especially wonderful.
I took these photos when we returned to the lobby .
And then, since it was cold and time for a cup of afternoon coffee, I explored a little further…
Don’t these look delicious?
My husband and I shared one of these.
Since it was late afternoon, the restaurant was setting out these trays.
We had a wonderful trip, but I am such a homebody, I am also glad to be home. It is cold and raining- perfect home weather.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Can I just say that food is beautiful? Bring a couple of those trays on over with your p.j.s!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to spend a Saturday!

Laura... I hope you waved hi to me... I was only 20 miles east! Candy and her family are going to be staying at the Riverwalk beginning this Sunday... I think Ricky and I are joining them for dinner one evening (if it's not too cold)... I just love San Antonio at Christmastime... and the Gunter is amazing!

Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteYour post has made my mouth water. I'll be off to the fridge before bed now. It looks like such a wonderful time. That is quite a drive, but worth it when that is at the end of it.
Thank you so much for such a lovely message you left for me at my place.
The pots that are above the TV cabinet are some that I had purchased when decorating for my daughter's wedding about 5 years ago. They are really scrolly metal wonderful things! Can you believe I found them at Jo-annes fabris store?
Hugs to you friend,
Laura, what a fun trip. Great little get-away. I'm so glad that you two had such a good time. AND the food looks fabulous! OK, forget what I said about sweets, I'll take one of those chocolate thingymejigs thank you very much!! Looks delish!
ReplyDeletebig hugs,
Debra

Really beautiful pictures. My husband and I just returned from a quick Chicago trip. It's fun to travel in Dec. isn't it? That cheese tray pic at the end almost looked like little Christmas trees.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit today. I love it when you stop by to "talk" dishes!
Merry Christmas! Donna
