I Would Like To

IMGP0244

I would like to bake one day soon, all day long, using my Kitchenaid mixer that makes me feel authoritative and cookish and invincible. How can something not turn out well when it has been blended in this?

I would like to give baked goods as Christmas gifts to friends instead of other kinds of gifts.

I would like to have a day of baking amnesty where calories don’t count.  In fact, I would like a week (or month) of amnesty.

I would like to do something with this.

I would like to bleach green bottle brush trees to then sprinkle with glitter and adorn with tiny ornaments, but I have been unable to find packages of bottle brush trees.

I would like to learn to knit using this vintage booklet that belonged to my mother. I can crochet, but I can not knit. I want to have two creating utensils moving and clicking instead of one.

I would like someone in my family to shell all of these pecans, home-grown and harvested from my father’s pecan grove, waiting for Thanksgiving.

And finally, I would like to make my own potpourri.  I want it to be as fragrant as the potpourri I bought in Canton ( that is currently on sale at the Nutcracker Market in Houston- that I am not attending).  It is all orange and spice and wonderful.

I am joining Wordful Wednesday at Angie’s Circus today and White Wednesday at Faded Charm Cottage.

Laura, I had to return to your blog to say that I keep thinking about the white soup tureen and bowls you were fortunate to find. (Wonder if the owner knows what a good home they went to?) I keep seeing them against that red wall somehow. Okay... I'm not the decorator you are but I just had to mention this to you.
Have fun with them!
Hugs,
Karen

I used to start baking on the day after Thanksgiving and bake something every day, for the freezer, until Christmas for gifts. But, of course that was L.B.B. (life before blogging) :)

Just dive right in Laura. Yesterday, I started cleaning out kitchen cabinets. It started with one and before I knew it, my counter tops were piled high with things that had been hiding in cabinets. I think all I really did, was shuffle things around.

I really like this post! Very clever and I loved the bowl of pecans. I have a bag of them in my fridge waiting to be shelled. My Mom has pecan trees. I just need to sit down one night while watching TV and start working on them. :) So nice to meet you. ~ Lynn

At Micheal's you can get a bag of bottle brushed trees...I believe for $16.99. They maybe offering a coupon now. Not quite sure about that. Can you tell me about bleaching them. What color does it turn them?
