In order to welcome fall where I live, with the colors and flowers signifying the season, I almost have to wish it so. It reminds me of that great line in Field of Dreams: ‘build it and they will come’ , faux or otherwise.
In doing so, I get to put my own spin on those first wonderful days, when no matter how hot it is, you know something is getting ready to change.
Do real fall flowers, and leaves have glitter and bling and appear in varying colors of electric orange? No, but I sure like them that way, and I recycle them year after year.
The invitation and welcome to early fall months in my house says the same thing every year: welcome cooler weather, welcome Texas high school/college football, and welcome favorite family comfort foods .
My favorite message of love and nurturing this time of year?
“I think I’ll make a pot of soup today.”
I also love winding all of my fall things around things I already have sitting out. Every piece of fall in my house has to fit in ,no matter who was sitting there first. The three ceramic leaves were a find at the flea market for 50 cents.

Happy Fall to you! We had some rain today that seemed to bring in some coolness. My husband even took a nap this afternoon under a light blanket. Looks like Fall is on it's way!
ReplyDeleteI have tons of fall decorations just begging to be displayed.. all of my old stuff here, from my parents' home and then from our home in Mexico... where people wonder why the heck anyone decorates like that. It's my favorite time of the year and if I can't find some place that isn't burninng fall leaves... well, my internal clock just doesn't work right. Love your fall bling, Laura.

I'm looking forward to fall and cooler weather. You mean leaves don't have glitter...all mine do!

I was thinking of fall today as well. I planted six flats of mums in the front flower beds. I love your blue and white ginger jars with the fall leaves added. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was looking at a picture of MY door--same color and the wreath looks the same :) I love fall too and all that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteLove all your decorations! You have motivated me to get started.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Fall - it is not here yet. Temps to be in the 90's this next week. Typical of the MidSouth. I like Fall, but not what comes afterwards. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLaura...Happy fallerizing girl...You definately got it goin on!!!! Love this time of year just like you do...new recipes for fall and the crisp air...leaves turning, kids going back to school, God Bless , xoxo~Kathy~ @ Sweet Up-North Mornings...
ReplyDeleteLaura, I love all your fall goodies. Yes, "if we decorate it, it will come". We lived in San Antonio about 30 years ago, oh, was I young, and every year in October I would cry because there were no pretty leaves, like here in Missouri. Young, but still loved my fall season. Have fun, our front doors are dead ringers. I'll post a fall pic soon!
