a 'little something' for me.
The gift?
Two avocado trees
and a fig tree.
I love these gifts because they are from him.
I also love these gifts because they turn out
like this.
This is one of two mountain laurels he planted in my front yard.
During his visit, after he told me where to plant these new baby trees, he reminded me of a few
tree care truths that I think are a great metaphor for life truths.
So listen up granddaughters of Jim Mills:
*get rid of all dead wood , wherever it is in your yard
*before deciding where to plant a tree, look up and look around
*competing trees are not good for new trees

Hey! Not a crazy question at all. I didn't understand WLW either until I tried it. Now I couldn't go back to regular Blogger. For one thing, Blogger loads pics in order & you have to be careful about how you load them. If you move pics around after loading them in Blogger, they won't be clickable for enlarging. With WLW, you can insert pics at any point in your post that you want it. You can drag pics around anywhere you want & they will still be clickable to enlarge after posting. You can click on a button for Small, Medium & large pics & choose which size you want, with just the click of a button, which Blogger doesn't do. Their large is not as large as I like my pics to be. WLW lets you get them as big as you want. You can even drag the pics out with your mouse to make them exactly the size you need them to be.
You can add text anywhere you want. I would always load my pics in Blogger, then go back & add the text. With WLW, you can do it either way & just add whatever you want in there. You can change fonts & choose something different than Blogger has. It's just like typing in a Word document, lots more choices to use than what blogger gives you.
I save my posts now in WLW and then save them to Draft in Blogger before posting. They will sit in your Edits and you can then go to Blogger and do any minor changes before posting live OR you can simply post in WLW and then post LIVE right onto your blog from there. Whatever you want to do.
Really, it's a great program! I'm so glad I started using it & could not go back to the clunky ways of Blogger now. Give it a try, I think you'll love it too. Once you get it loaded & set up correctly, you'll love it.
You didn't give me an email to answer you so I'm answering here>
It has a solid bottom? If you've drilled holes and are putting it on top of dirt I would think after time the bottom would decay. That could take a few years though (as long as it's not rot resistant wood). It also depends on what you're planting. If it's shallow rooted veggies you might be o.k. but if it something like carrots or potatoes it wouldn't work unless it's a really deep one.
If it were me I would just remove the bottom and use the outside frame to be sure. That shouldn't be too hard to do. But you can take your chances and see if it works. But I would make sure the next boxes did have bottoms!
Manuela
I mean didn't have bottoms!
Oh how I wish I could grow avocado trees! We lived in Hawaii for a while and had Mango trees in the back yard! Right now I'm just thrilled to see my lime tree with blossoms all over it. Now, if I can just keep the boys from picking the little limes and using them as weapons...
Have a super day!
