Welcome to Ten on the Tenth!
In honor of Valentine’s Day 2018, which is right around the corner, a group of bloggers have come together, as we do each month, to offer inspiration.
With that in mind,
let’s talk about
Being Bold!
**********
I have very distinct memories of various Valentine’s Days from years past.
I will always treasure one in particular,
It was 3rd grade at Riviera Elementary school, and after arriving at school on Valentine’s Day, clutching my valentines sealed in their small envelopes,
ready to drop in my classmates’ decorated sacks, I was stopped in my tracks when I reached my desk.
There sitting in all of its over the top glory was a Valentine’s Day gift that resembled this.
It was enormous.
I didn’t know where to look.
Remember when you were little, and you were pleased and embarrassed all at the same time?
You sort of sucked your cheeks in trying not to smile?
I knew who it was from. He was already sitting at his desk looking equally embarrassed. Oh the sweet shyness of youth .
Valentine’s Day has all sorts of implications, doesn’t it ?
And so what if this Valentine’s Day of 2018- that is right around the calendar’s rapidly speeding corner- we are BOLD?
Let’s channel Laura Ellen (me) at age 9, and give her another chance to stand tall, release her cheeks that are trying so hard to not smile, and look the gift giver in the
eye, and smile .
Whatever Valentine’s Day brings this year- and whether or not we have big plans- let’s all straighten our shoulders, get dolled up, ‘throw the closet’- (footnote below ), look someone straight in the eye and smile.
What a wonderful Valentine’s day that will create.
What a wonderful Valentine’s day that will create.
Footnote:
which means, bring it all out- go for it, and when it is time to stop, you'll know- or someone will tell you!
Here are some bold spirit building ideas to help accomplish that.
Wear Red
Wear Big Red Earrings
Wear a Smokey Eye
Wear Red Lipstick
Wear Red Nail Polish
These are just examples friends.
We all have something red in our closet or in our cosmetics, and if we don’t, Wal Mart does for all of the right prices.Let’s use what we have and Be Bold.

How much fun! I've always avoided wearing red. I think my mother must have told me that it wasn't my color during my formative years. Maybe I'll give it a try this February. In the mean time, I will definitely try the smokey eye make up.
Oh, Laura, I love your posts! I never wear red, rarely wear a lot of color. However, this year I may just give your advice a try. You have given me inspiration. Although I may have to do a little shopping to "throw the closet"! BE BOLD!!!!
Red is my signature color when it comes to decorating...and yet, I do not wear a lot of it. Perhaps that should change. A bold lipstick or maybe some gloves. Thanks for the chat...It's time to be bold!
I have a red t-shirt. I guess I could dig it out . . . .
I love the "throw the closet" idea and I also love that fab red shawl! Don't think I can pull off the leggings though, no matter how wide that closet is thrown!
I love to wear red and I love this post!!
Yes let's be bold and beautiful. Let's get noticed. :)
Do you have a favorite red lipstick? My hubby's mother always wore red lips and red nails. She was so pretty!
Oh I love red! I am painting my nails red right now:) Have a blessed day dear Laura, HUGS!
Oh I love Celeste's quote and I love RED! I wear red a lot and especially on my nails which matter of fact I need to repaint. Love this post. Made me smile this morning. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I can do without a lot of things, but my red lipstick is NOT one of them. My most memorable Valentine's Day was during my 4th-grade year and I had to miss my class party because I was covered in chicken pox. That's a big deal in 4th grade. LOL
What a wonderful memory, Laura. I cannot imagine getting something like that for Valentine's Day as a child. I am wondering if you still have it....
I hope you have a blessed, wonderful Wednesday- xo Diana
I'm about to clean out my closet. You've inspired me to hang on to the red! Thanks for sharing. That doll is just too much!
Valentine's Day in grade school back in the 50's was almost like Christmas morning....the excitement, the anticipation & all those little Valentine cards in the shoe box we had decorated! I loved those days & now am sending those cards to grandkids :)
Ohh what a fun and Bold post!! I can definitely wrap myself in a red piece of fabric or clothing.
Oh I am loving this and of course red. I feel a trip to the nail salon coming on for some red, red nail polish!
I love red and I completely agree with you!
What a sweet story! I remember those days well though I never had a special gift like that given to me! I love red and don’t mind wearing it! I have a favorite solid red wool coat that I wear during the holiday and then again at Valentines Day. I love that term throw the closet- Ive never heard it before.
Great post. What brand eye shadow do you use? I love specifics and need a new look.
